So every car will eventually have a problem not matter how much you spend (look at the Porsche Cayenne). I'm tired of hearing all this Lemon talk about the XC70 and all the questions with why you would purchase this 'wagon' and not it's brother the XC90. That being said, this is my second XC70- the first being a 2001 V70XC. So by now you know that I am a fan of this car or I would not have purchased #2 and you should know I have no thoughts of anything different in the future. The 8 or so additional horses in the 2005 aren't that obvious but the upgrade in the AWD system is awesome. The transmission is smoother than the 2001 but other than some cosmetic upgrades (metal roof rails, enlarged front "metal" skid plate with the addition of one in the rear, upgraded tail lights) the car is the same great car as my 2001. The only reason I traded in was a 14 month new baby boy who's mom was uncomfortable with us driving him every weekend to Vermont in a car with 80,000 miles. Yes, my 2001 had just over 80K and my only unscheduled services were for a faulty tire and a transmission software upgrade. That being said, the only thing we changed in the new car was the color. I love this car and I love the way Volvo treats it's customer's. I've had some pretty sour experiences at other dealers (MB and Ford specifically) but hot coffee and fresh croissants paired with timely honest service gets my vote. I've liked my Volvo experience so much my wife actually traded in her 325xi for the S60AWD. I should also mention we have a 2004 S40LSE. Everyone in my neighborhood thinks we work for Volvo...all I can say is that Volvo works for us. In each of the cars build quality, safety and performance are great. My favorite however, has to be the XC70. There aren't many other cars that will allow you to drive through a blizzard into the mountains packing a wife, baby, dog, cat and all of the equipment and supplies needed for a week of skiing. Granted I have a roof cargo box but it really is amazing that the 5hr trip is a dream.
