Why am I paying to do all the work?!
by xyzwyatt | Apr 01 '05
I use to spend a lot of time at the post office because I did a lot of selling on eBay. I knew about stamps.com but I was hesitant to use it because I didn’t want to pay for the service. I eventually started selling more than I could do by hand and ...

Just use USPS.com! (Reply to this comment)
by lilblaxicana
I had Stamps.com. I only used it to print first class mail. For priority/express and international, I use USPS.com website. I have a USPS account. It's ACTUALLY cheaper than stamps.com. The tracking is free, and like I said, it's cheaper, you can print on regular paper and they don't charge you monthly.

Just use USPS.com if you ship priority/express or international. :)

i went through one of those paid survey websites. you would get 7.00 for signing up for the FREE trial.before my trial was up, WELL before it was up, i called to cancel my account. they're very pushy about not closing accounts apparently! i thought the guy said to cancel by the 4th, apparently he said the first.no biggie. so when i called to cancel, the guy told me i was only being charged the.i check my account today, and there's 17.95 from them also! i called. half an hour of jabber from a CSR and a supervisor, and they told me that all they can do is have me open another account and waive my monthly fee. for what?

Stamps.com good for my business (Reply to this comment)
by somanythings
Stamps.com has been indispensable for my home business. I make crafts and sell them on Etsy. My shop is getting pretty popular, so I've found that I'm spending a lot of time at the post office. It gets a little overwhelming when you have a carton filled with things to mail, so I decided I needed to look at other options.

A friend who owns her own business recommended the Stamps.com meter to me a few months ago. It has been terrific for my business because I save so much time and money. Not only can I print postage from my office printer, but I can get a discount on international, Priority and Express mail. I have some heavier items that weigh more than a pound, but because I go through Stamps.com, I get to bypass the USPS rule about having to bring those items to the desk to be mailed. Best of all, USPS will pick up your items for free, so now that I do all of my own postage at home, I don't have to lift a finger after I give everything to the mailman.

I really can't argue with what they offer for $15.99 a month, because I save more than that each month because of the shipping discounts I get through Stamps.com. I'm really glad I don't wait in line at the post office anymore.

Absolutely Terrible (Reply to this comment)
by shanatim
I signed up for stamps.com for the free trial and the free trial ONLY. Here's where I blame myself - I let the trial run out and was billed $17.99 for the premium membership. All good, it was my fault for not canceling sooner, but as soon as I got billed, I called to cancel.

A WEEK and 4 phone calls later, I have just successfully canceled my account. These CSRs WILL NOT take "No" for an answer. I was on the phone for *15 minutes* with one broad who just didn't seem to understand that I have absolutely no use for their services.

FURTHERMORE, the $17.99 a month fee includes exactly $0 in stamps and lables! That's right! For almost $20, you get....NOTHING! Oh, but they have a more affordable plan for $9.99 a month which gets you....NOTHING! So, for the casual stamp user who uses, let's say, $10 of postage a month, you can use stamps.com to print your $10 a month in postage for the low, low price of $20!!! Instead of just buying a pack while grocery shopping. What an incredible value!!!

Worst product ever.

Same Misleading Promo Offer (Reply to this comment)
by wrkathome
Three and a half years later, this comment by xyzwyatt is still spot on. They make it hard to redeem your free postage. They make you wait over 4 weeks for your scale. When you call their Customer Service, you can tell that they really don't care to do business any other way. My first impressions are definitely negative.

Stamps.com plus free PS3 (Reply to this comment)
by jeffdgilbert
Hi this is for anyone that wants to use Stamps.com to get stamps. I just wanted to let you know that if you Sign up at http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=3663083 and complete the Stamps.com offer then you can get the 30 day trial, install, and try the software, , and also be on your way to getting the free PS3 or 450 paypal money. If you do the refereral system then you only need to do this one offer. It will be worth it with the new PS3. http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=3663083
Thanks

WASTE OF TIME (Reply to this comment)
by roxxboise
I agree with the last reviewer. I went to Stamps.com after waiting 1/2 hour in line to mail packages. I was moved into the "express line," where I waited another 20 minutes for someone to fumble around with each of the 6 packages they were mailing.

I decided to go home and mail from home. I only had one package, weighed only 3 pounds. I filled out all the questions, downloaded the software, then tried to print my postage. My printer works fine in every other way, but printed only symbols and nonsense.

My frustration level just got worse, as I tried to find a place within the software where I could cancel my account. You have to CALL them during their business hours...and THEN...you have to call YET ANOTHER NUMBER to cancel your account.

Meanwhile, as I write this review, my friend is already back from UPS and had no problems getting my package out. The USPS needs to get caught up, or get left behind.

One more negative: does not work for Apple/Mac (Reply to this comment)
by willownaeco
Let me get this right, Stamps.com. Since I'm a Mac user, I'm supposed to spend $200 on software to run your software which makes it so I have to pay more for postage? No thanks!

Helpful; love details (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for taking the time! Like you, I can't stand offers that just don't add up to the perceived deal. I was considering this service for just printing stamps - but no way now!

You have the free postage that you already used but you lose any unused postage. The free postage actually means they give you a credit on your account, you won't get physical stamps.

Thanks!

Yes, this is what I use now and love it. It fills in the address for me, automatically sends out an email, and USPS will even pick it up from my door if needed. I've never had a misprint and refunds are simple. It is 100% better!

Thanks for the warning (Reply to this comment)
by bonniesayers
I had considered them at one point but never did take the steps to get the details on their site and rules.

I slowed down in my selling on ebay, but might start up again soon.

I am too lazy to read all other reviews, otherwise this would have garned a MH rating.

I'm awfully glad you wrote this review when you did; I was seriously considering signing up with Stamps.com!

I'm definitely going to stick with the good old fashioned way of getting postage!

Thanks!
