I came across this site when I was looking for, of all things, baby shoes. I guess the term kicks is still a slang word for shoes because this site came up when I was trolling the results from Google. When I first hit the site and saw the words hemp I rolled my eyes and thought, Oh, its just a dope smoker site and used the back button to go back to the search results. It wasnt until about three minutes later that curiosity got the best of me. Babies and dope arent two things that usually go together. When I found the site again I spent some time looking around it and called my sister to ask her what kind of nappies she was planning on using; she was still undecided about it but had a lot of disposables on hand. Every week she has some different plan for diapering
I told her about this site and she checked it out; less than two hours later she asked me if Id order her some things and send them to her since she wasnt sure how to go about getting them shipped overseas. Shes not very computer savvy so most of the time that gets used as an excuse for me to do all the work.
Baby Kicks Online Store
Basically the site sells diapers; there are a few accessories but 95% of what they sell are diapers. These are washable, made from a blend of hemp and cotton and according to the site will help protect your baby from bacteria, mold and fungus. I guess these are better for your baby than disposables and they are certainly better for the planet but you know, I am out of that part of parenthood so what I think about something in regards to diapers doesnt mean squat. I went for convenience first, price second and the earth third. Sorry, when you have two to three kids in diapers or potty training at one time you have to do what you have to do. The site is pretty basic and easy to get around and everything that you need to know about the things they sell is listed; the only downside is trying to find out the details of things in regards to shipping, returns and fees. This is where my sister ran into trouble trying to find out about international shipping. After doing some digging I did find out that they do ship internationally, the downside is that this involved Customs forms and an import or duty levied on the cost of the transaction or value of the goods. If I buy them and ship them to her they are listed as a gift, which, technically they are.
After I told my sister about the site she asked me to order her some of the Hemparoo Fleece PreFolds. To me that is like asking a third grader to explain quantum physics. What the hell is a prefold? See, I am way out of the whole baby loop and lingo. It was going to cost me the same amount to order a couple as it would be to order a half dozen so I opted to get six of the medium sized ones [we always have monster sized babies] for a total of $40.00. You can buy them individually for $6.99 each so I did save a little money ordering the half dozen. When they arrived I had to check them out again, curiosity is a killer with me. They were bigger than I expected, remember, I am used to disposable diapers so I was a little confused as to why this thing was so big. They were 13 x 18 so the first thing that popped into my mind was She can diaper baby Hughie in this thing!. I had to ask one of the local soccer moms about this whole thing and she laughed but carefully explained why they were so big. And then, as if a light bulb finally made contact with a power source, I got it.

Payment Options
The site accepts MasterCard Visa, American Express and The Discover Card. They also accept PayPal [which accepts MasterCard, Visa, checking accounts etc], money orders, certified checks and international money orders. I have only placed one order so far but had no problem using my MasterCard [a debit MasterCard I might add]; the order was processed quickly and I was notified when it was ready to ship out. When I checked my online statement at my banks website the dates of the billing were the same and so was the amount charged. Since I have only placed one order with this company so far I cant comment on how well they process other cards but if they handle them the way they handled my initial order then youll have no problems!
Return Policy
If you have any problems with the products that you order, do yourself a favor and use the onsite service form to get issues resolved. They will accept returns but you have to contact them first and exchanges and refunds are at their sole discretion and wont be issued until they have had a chance to check out the item / items in question. You can find the form here: babykicks.com/contact. This is a small site and if I read the information correctly its run by one person so you are getting high quality handmade things but you are also getting professional treatment and quick shipping.
Shipping Fees
When I placed the order I was almost in heaven I thought that the shipping on this was only .50 cents! When I added the prefolds to my cart it showed that shipping was .50 cents. Then I saw that I had to enter the zone in which I lived to get the actual shipping fee. The fifty cents thats added on is to help defray the shipping fees [I am assuming packaging and UPS pick up fees]. It cost about eight bucks for my order which I didnt think was all that bad, the order arrived in about a week and the whole thing was processed in about 24 hours after I placed the order and submitted my credit card information. I was also sent a tracking number for UPS Ground, a nice thing to have but sometimes the information they list at the site about an item isnt up to date.
The Bottom Line
Im really glad that I stumbled across this site; it figures that I am looking for one thing and find something completely different! This is a small site that offers a few different styles of diapers and a couple of accessories so dont expect it to have a ton of stuff to choose from. To me a diaper is a diaper; as long as it does its job then I could care less what design is on it or who makes it. My sister got these in the mail last week and was really excited about them. She is really considering using the washable ones when they are at home and the disposables when they are out and about. She mentioned that she did get some other cloth ones but none of them felt this soft or were this thick. Looks like BabyKicks has another satisfied customer but the true test will be when the stork drops off the newest addition to the family and these get a real work out! If you are looking for cloth diapers then check out this site. I have no idea what the going price for cloth nappies are but from everyone that I talked to, $40.00 for six of them in the medium size was a good deal. The site also sells items on eBay so if you want to try to catch a deal, look for their listings there [members.ebay.com/aboutme/babykicks].
As always, thanks for the read!
