I have used Franklincovey.com for several purchases over the past three years. The first time I purchased a planner and pages, the second time a refill set of pages, later a new planner, and most my parents let me pick out a leather laptop case. My experiences with this website have generally been positive, and that’s why I keep going back.
About Franklin Covey
This brand specializes in organizational tools for work, and more recently it has expanded it’s offerings in the student market. It has a focus on organization, leadership skills and setting priorities and goals, and these ideas are incorporated into many of its products. The company also hosts various events for employers and employees. The website offers day by day planners in a variety of colors, styles, and sizes with coordinating briefcases and totes. I currently own the Envelope Style Binder in maroon, with the Frommer’s Favorite Places planning pages. Each week’s pages showcase a different location, with a few fun facts at the bottom every day’s pages. Other styles include Dilbert, Golf, and Seasons.
Franklin Covey stores are available at a variety of malls, but no where closer than three hours from where I live. Additionally, the selection at any given store is much smaller than the availability on the website, so ordering online is much easier as far as I’m concerned. I love organizational tools of any type, so the products from this company are very exciting to me. The sad part is that the prices are a little high for organizational equipment, but the quality is very good. Binders start at about $40 and run up into the hundreds, and planning pages will cost around $40 for the year.
Website Features
The site allows you to shop online, demonstrating its entire product catalog. Each product can be viewed in all the different colors in which it is available. The catalog area is organized into different product types such as planners, planning pages, and business cases. You can also visit the Solutions for You area, which has a selection of articles focusing on balancing your busy schedule and setting goals. It’s a little cheesy, but if you are into that kind of thing there is a pretty good selection. Solutions for Business is a similar section dealing with resources for business, and has an option to search for a speaker for an event and information on training programs offered by the company.
There are a few neat features I have discovered while using the website. Before you even think about purchasing anything, be sure to visit the E-Mail Sign-up at the bottom of the screen. From doing this, I receive an email almost every week with a discount code, so I have never purchased anything on this website without a discount or at least free shipping. If you are trying to order planning pages and can’t find the exact right style, you can Design Your Own. I have done this one time, and was very happy with the results. I like to have one page per day with a large space for a to do list, and I was able to create pages to this exact specification. If you see items from the catalog you like you can just put them in your Shopping Cart, which is stored in the top right corner. There is a lot of neat stuff available on this website, and my only complaint is it is a bit busy and sometimes it takes a lot of looking around on the screen to find what you want.
My Ordering Experience
To place an order, all you have to do is click on your shopping cart and then Checkout Now. There is live customer chat available if you have questions while placing your order. I have never had any problems while submitting payment information. Franklin Covey accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Diners Club/Carte Blanche. Purchase orders are also accepted. The website provides a full refund, credit or exchange when you return a purchase within 30 days with the receipt. Additionally, there is an unconditional guarantee against any defect in craftsmanship for one year from purchase.
My orders have always come earlier than I expected them, and have never had any type of defect. In fact, things tend to look even better in person than on the website. I get many compliments on both my planner and laptop case.
Overall…
This is a neat website, and worth a look even if you aren’t planning on buying anything but want a few organizational tips. The products are high quality and worth the price, in my opinion. If you or someone you know have a hard time being organized, having a neat planner makes it a little more fun. The online service could be a bit less cluttered and more user friendly, but on the whole Franklincovey.com and I have gotten along just fine.
