Unfortunately, I allowed myself to get suckered in to shopping with Botach because of their great prices, but now I wish I'd used my head and gone with another site/store I was familiar with.
Botach had a specific size/style of boot I had been looking for that none of the stores around here carry. Not only that, but Botach was about $10 cheaper than everybody else online, so I gave it a shot and ordered the boots. I got my confirmation number and everything went along nice and smooth.
This was back on May 25th 2005.
A few days later, I checked my credit card balance, and saw that the order had been charged. One May 31st, I received an E-mail thanking me for my order and informing me that my order had been shipped. Great!
Well, somewhere about a week into June, I began to get concerned. A week seemed to be long time to wait to get a package in Arizona that was mailed out from California, and I wanted to make sure there had been no problems. None of the tracking links/numbers worked, so I went ahead and called Botach's customer service number. Nobody answered....big shock. I left a message on the machine with the order number, etc. and left my contact information.
One day and night passed....no boots....no return phone call. I called again and left another message, and also sent out an E-mail to cover all the bases.
Nothing...no boots....no phone call...no E-mail.
Well, over the next few days, I called two more times and sent out two more E-mails. FINALLY I received an E-mail from someone about my order:
"Sir i would like to apologize for the delay in shipping your order we had to drop ship the item
that mean it will be comeing from the manufactory thanks for your patience if you have any other
question please feel free in contacting me at
Ext XXX"
First off, it looked like a small child typed up that E-mail. Second, I thought it was pretty poor service to not let me know this up front....instead allowing me to call and E-mail multiple times before revealing this to me.
Third, why was I sent a shipping confirmation when, in fact, the item still had not shipped?
Anyway, I have called a few more times (the main number AND the number with the extension sent to me in the E-mail), sent a few more E-mails, and have not received any responses to any of them. Apparently, they think this will just disappear if they ignore me.
It is now July 7th. I have yet to hear from Botach, and I still have not received the boots. I finally had to go out and buy a pair from someone else, since I just couldn't wait any longer. I have shopped online for quite a while now with many different merchants, and this is by far the worst shopping experience I have ever had.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this seller. No matter how much cheaper their listed prices are, it's not worth it.
UPDATE 04/29/07 - I was just looking around the site today and came across this review of mine and thought, what the heck, I might as well add an update here to this long-forgotten mess.
Coming up on almost two years now at this point, but I wanted to at least put in here that I never received the boots I ordered, never got any replies to any of my E-mails or phone calls, and never once spoke to a live person at any point during my ordeal with this company.
Apparently, the only thing they know how to do over at Botach is charge credit cards. They managed to do that right away.
I suppose I can put some of the blame on myself....I never filed a complaint with the BBB, and I didn't dispute the charge on my credit card. I was so exhausted from dealing with this company, I just figured the $50.00 or so I was out was my price to pay for not researching before I used this seller.
Anyway, lesson learned. I only hope that any of you out there that read these reviews don't make the same mistake by using this seller. If one person writes a negative review, it could just be someone with a bad attitude or a fluke situation where the seller dropped the ball. Two negative reviews like this could just be a coincidence...I'm willing to understand that when you deal with hundreds of orders or more, sometimes things slip through the cracks. But when you have this many negative experiences with a company and no positives, something's wrong, and red flags should go up.
This isn't just a case of a mistake or a problem with an order. This is a case of a company that quickly grabs your money, then maybe sends out your items or maybe not, maybe the right order, maybe not. They then avoid you at all costs. No replies to phone calls or E-mails. No follow-up. No willingness to help for those that are able to get a response from them. There is a word that describes someone who takes money from you (even when one is under the impression they are paying for a product or service) - that word is thief. The people at Botach are nothing more than thieves, and I feel fortunate that I'm only out the amount that I am.
I'm their perfect "victim" - I fought with them for a few weeks, then just decided to let it go because it wasn't worth the time and aggravation any more over $50.00. Easy money for them, but it led to me writing this review, and if this review saves even one person from dealing with this company, then it was worth it.
