I mentioned in my review of Sheplers that I am a city girl with a country heart. Sometimes. We don’t have many western shops here in the middle of New York State so I scoured the net to find a couple that I felt were good to shop from when the line dancin’ mood struck.
Langston’s is my second favorite western shop on the net. I love to toggle between Sheplers and Langston’s and catch the best prices on the same or similar items. But there are a few very big differences between the two sites.
What Langston’s Sells
This site sells a wide variety of (mostly) western apparel, boots, hats, jackets, and work wear for both men and women. They also sell some items for children.
Variety
The inventory on Langston’s site isn’t nearly as large as that on Sheplers in many areas. However, they have more brand names in jeans than Sheplers. Their cowboy hat section is very small and somewhat high priced.
Navigation
The site is very simple looking. There are a list of categories down the left side of the site. Click on a category and sub categories are listed (Like brand names of jeans for example). Click on the sub category of your choice and you will see all the offerings. When you see an item you want to view more closely, click on the small photo and it will enlarge and give you a description, sizing, colors availability if necessary, and price. There is also a search link to search rather than browse for an item.

Once you have finished shopping, you go to the checkout.
Orders over $100 are free. Shipping for orders below that amount ranges from $4.95 to $9.95.
There are two faster methods of shipping you can choose, for as fee, if you need your items super fast.
The site is a bit confusing to navigate. It is simple in set up but somewhat tough to figure out how to get back to the home page or find your shopping cart. It could use a few upgrades to make it more user friendly. However, this isn’t a huge problem.
Your cart is a familiar (to those of us who shop online a lot) Yahoo shopping cart. You fill in your personal information. The next screen asks for your major credit card info and you are done. You will get a confirmation on the screen and email almost immediately after the order is places.
Usually within the next day or two, you will get another email informing you that your order is being shipped and giving you a tracking number.
Orders aren’t as speedy as I would like but they get to me within about eight or nine days. I have waited a couple weeks for an order before but there was a three day weekend involved.
Orders are packed well and securely.
My Experiences
I like Langston’s variety of jeans especially their Lucky Brand jeans which are very reasonably priced. They have several names brands to choose from and not all are western styles. They also have some tops and jackets that don’t look western.
I am underwhelmed with their boot collection. There are a few Harley boots for women as well as some moccasins, slippers, casual stuff, and some really ugly cowgirl boots. They seem quite garish in general with only a couple styles even being all one color. The prices are medium to high for the styles they sell.
I went there to buy Lucky Brand jeans. The ones I liked were selling for $132.00 on some sites and I got them for $44.97. Loved it!! They were closeouts though and were not returnable. Luckily (because they’re Lucky, you see), I picked the right sizes and the jeans fit great.
I had no problem placing my orders and no problem receiving them. I did find myself waiting quite a while for one of my three orders but it turned out to only be 14 days. It just seemed longer because I wanted my Luckys!
I have not had to return anything but they have decent policy. I had no problems with the ordering process, quality, or shipping costs. I am not overly fond of the navigation, selection in some areas, and the longer than average wait time for my orders. Then again the orders shipped free. I would rather wait a little while than pay $10 or $12 extra to get the orders in a day or two.
Shipping and Returns
As I mentioned, shipping in the US for orders over $100 is free. Under that amount, depending on your order total, the shipping cost is between $4.95 and $9.95.
You can also opt for three-day select or two-day air UPS shipping for additional fees.
You can return unworn items within 30 days for a full refund or exchange. You can also return defective worn items within that timeframe for a refund or exchange. You cannot return worn merchandise that you just don’t like or that you have altered.

Conclusion
While I do like their selection of jeans and feel the prices are quite good, the rest – like hats and boots – is somewhat sparse. This doesn’t feel like a real western shop like Sheplers but it does sell Rockies Jeans which are THE definitive western jean as well as other western apparel. The site is much smaller than Sheplers and some prices are higher - and some are lower. Here is where comparison shopping comes in.
Navigation is a little wonky but nothing that would cause you to get too crazy and shipping takes a little longer than average website orders but you won’t be waiting more than 14 days. At least, I didn’t all three times I ordered and I am nowhere near their warehouse.
Shipping is a good deal over $100 and decently priced under and the return policy is standard.
I am giving Langston’s 4 stars with a recommendation to check the site out and snag some Luckys at close out prices before they’re gone. Their other jeans are also very reasonably priced as well.
I don’t come away feeling like a cowgirl when I shop at Langston’s but I do feel Lucky!
