Pros: High-speed quads...that's about it!
Cons: Overcrowded and overpriced!
The Bottom Line: Visit the ski resort just down the road from Terry Peak. This ski resort (Deer Mountain) is just better all around and offers a lot more.

| jwshack's Full Review: Terry Peak |
I have been snowboarding at Terry Peak for quite a while. My parents live in NE Wyoming. I come to visit my parents a couple of times per year so I generally make one or two trips to both Terry Peak and Deer Mountain (another ski area located just up the road) per year.
Terry Peak is great if you like the high-speed lifts; there has never been much of a wait at the lift lines. However, they don't have much else going for them. The runs are always crowded and I have not experienced a real good day of snowboarding there yet - the runs always seem to be icy and hardpacked. Finding fresh snow is difficult; however, it can be had if you are good at going through the trees.
Most of the staff seem to be great people. The lift operators generally are friendly and the food service workers seem to be okay. Perhaps some of the cooks in the back could use a shave or haircut though. They just didn't seem like people you would want touching your food.
Terry Peak also seems to have a bias against snowboarders. I have ridden up the lift several times with members of their ski patrol. These members always seem to make an offhand comment about how the hill would be better if there weren't any snowboarders around. They removed the terrain park a couple of years ago, but had to reinstall it because of popular demand. When I was at Terry Peak last year, I decided to go down a run that their telephone-recorded ski report had said was open. However, the run happened to be closed and the ski patrol quickly came over to tell me that the run was closed (the run was not marked as closed). He then proceeded to take the next 15 minutes to tell me about avoiding closed runs and how he should revoke my lift ticket (mind you, this was a run that their own system said was open and was not marked as closed). At the end of his tirade, a skier came up and was about ready to descend the run. The ski patrol stopped him and the skier gave the ski patrol the same story that I did. The ski patrol then told him the run was closed. However, this skier did not get the same tirade that I had gotten; he did not get the same threats about revoking the lift ticket. In my experience, this bias is typical while riding at Terry Peak.
Riding at Terry Peak is also expensive. It cost me $35 for a lift ticket on a day when only about 16 runs were open. Mind you that all of these runs were crowded throughout the day and the snow was average (though their website had boasted that they had great conditions). I have never been to Terry Peak when they had all their runs open.
The ski area itself has seemed to have lost its "family appeal" over the years. The resort seems to focus on packing more people onto the hill. If you're looking at taking a family here, I would suggest that you take them to Deer Mountain, which offers much friendlier rates and a better beginner's area. Deer Mountain also offers night skiing and they have an inner tube sledding hill that offers fun for kids of all ages.
In short, if you're looking at going to Terry Peak, go elsewhere - especially if you're a snowboarder. Deer Mountain is just up the road. They offer cheaper prices, night skiing, less crowded runs, more acreage, a tubing hill, better staff, and better snow.
