Pros: Fair board if it works
Cons: My board went bad after a few months
The Bottom Line: Incidentally the Leadtek Winfast board I got to replace this was cheaper and get much higher 3Dmarks scores.

In the first part of March I called Asus Tech support due to problems I was having with a defective V7700 Deluxe video card. The tech seemed frustrated when I pointed out that the questions he was asking me had nothing to do with my problem and he put me through to the RMA dept. as I requested.
The RMA person gave me an RMA # 12E449 and gave me the address to ship to. She told me it would take about 2-3 weeks to get a replacement because the board would have to be tested first.
I then shipped them the defective product. Unfortunately she did not tell me to ship only the board. I work for an electronics distributor and I have dealt with quite a few RMA's and the OEMs always want the complete package returned so I sent ASUS the entire retail package.
After 4 weeks with no return I called to inquire about my RMA. I was told that it had been along time and that she would have a replacement shipped out the next day UPS 2nd Day. After a week had passed on a Friday I called again and was told that getting tracking numbers was very difficult. I said I would wait until Monday to see if it showed up. On Monday I called and spoke to another person. They called back the next day to let me know that my card had shipped UPS ground the previous day and gave me the tracking number.
When I opened the package there was only the board and nothing else except a packing slip that said I should also get accessories. Upon calling the RMA dept again the Rep confirmed by shipping weight that I did not get the rest of the product. When I mentioned that I also wanted my retail box back so I can resell this thing she said there was no way to do that. This puts me in a position of reselling a video card without the box it came in. After discussing this it became clear that I was S.O.L. as far as the box goes. She told me she would ship the rest of the items the next day UPS 2nd Day.
After waiting a week I again called the RMA dept. The same person then told me that these items always ship snail mail. She then looked and could not find where they had ever shipped. She said at that time she would immediately ship the items to me.
I have now waited 10 more days and nothing has arrived. At this point this board is worth less to resell and I have alot of time and expense in phone calls, not to mention the grief of not resolving this issue. It's been 2 months.
When I built this PC I looked at the positive ASUS hardware reviews. The A7V motherboard I bought had major problems for months until the 1007 bios came out. The ASUS DVD I bought takes forever to spin up. And now this with the video card. Besides hardware reliability, truthfulness and customer satisfaction are of value. I find none of these with this company.
Update 5/9/01; it’s been over a full week since I emailed this letter to ASUS and file a complaint with the BBB. Have heard nothing. Buyer Beware.
