| bodacious1949's Full Review: Chef's Secret 15-pc 9 Element Stainless Steel Cook... |
I bought my wife the Chefs Secret Cookware for Christmas
Because it's what she was wanting. All I can say about this cookware is it is fantastic cookware. We went to the Salad Master shows and were impressed by their product but not by the ridiculous price. Then I started searching the net for waterless cookware and stumbled upon Chefs Secret. It seemed to have everything the Salad Master set had at a tenth the price. I ordered it and when it arrived I was really impressed by the looks and the feel.
But what really impressed me the most is how much better food that is cooked in this cookware tastes. It truly is waterless cookware too and cooks at LOW temperatures. Since the cooking is done at low temps, cleaning is a snap too, no sticking and heavy scrubbing required. The cookware is very nice looking too, the outer Stainless steal is hi polish mirror finished and it's holding that look very well 2 months later. That may not sound like a long time but it's used ever day without any noticable wear on the outer finish. The lids fit the pots and pans extremely well and when cooking form a tight seal just like advertised and because of that seal the low temp cooking is very quick. Vegtables are delicious cooked in these utensils, they don't lose their color and taste the way they do in regular cookware.
They mean waterless cooking too, take for instance cooking a head of cauliflower. You just soak it in cold water for 15 - 20 minutes then heat the pan up and after the pan is heated to cooking temp you put the cauliflower in the pot with just the water that has been soaked up put the lid on and turn the flame WAY down. It cooks without burning or scorching and the juice that was in the cauliflower is in the pan, not steamed away. The taste is just great. Even hamburgers cooked in this cookware cook faster and better and at low heat. Amazingly they cook faster also without the mess that you usually get with regular frying pans. The set comes with a manual on how to best use it.
I guess the best thing I could say about the cookware is that I use it more than my wife does and I was never one who liked cooking. That has changed, this has made all the difference to me. It is really nice to use and after 2 months with it I am still enjoying cooking. Oh and it cooks evenly, no hot spots in the middle of the pan, even on very low heat. That's one of things I hated about cooking in the past, you had to continually mind the pans and flip the cold side to the hot middle and get it cooked and blah, blah. I'm not even sure you have to turn meats when cooking it, I do that from habit but have noticed the bottom of the meat when turned is not darker than the rest of the meat, it's cooked evenly all the way through. Sometime I'm going to try not turning the meat and see what happens. So far I haven't been able to burn anything. :) Even forgetting, when I finally do remember I'm cooking something the worst that has happened is it's over cooked but never burned.
Well I guess that's enough. I could go on and on but I think you get the point by now. If you decide on this cookware you definately will not be disappointed. FANTASTIC!
