Beyond President Bush's Rhetorics

The Bottom Line I highly recommend http://www.topica.com/lists/VictimsOfTerrorism.
It's a great site to share your opinion on the Sept. 11 tragedy.
While CNN has been doing a great job covering the September 11
terrorist attacks on American soil (America Under Attack) as well the
on-going war preparations (America At War), there has been some
slack of analysis on what President Bush and other senior U.S. officials
are saying. For example, the mere fact that the President is saying it
will likewise hunt down those who harbor terrorists is a subtle attempt
by Mr. Bush to indicate that not just Terrorist Numero Uno Bin Laden
is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack, but that the U.S.
is certain that other countries are involved.
The CIA is so sophisticated in communicating its position that even
the country's top news agency cannot seem to read behind the lines.
Some CNN commentators are even commenting that the longer the
war preparation and the investigations take, the harder it becomes to
hunt down Bin Laden. Well they seem to have missed the point
entirely.
For what the U.S. propaganda is doing right at this very moment is
to send the subtle message that it knows what's going on, although
it really doesn't. It is a subtle approach to ferret out more information
from other countries who may be involved in the wordwide
conspiracy to destabilize the U.S. economy. That this is true can be
shown by the subsequent reaction from other countries as the
propaganda carries on. Very early in the game you have the
Taliban issuing a statement that it had nothing to do with the WTC
and other attacks on the U.S. Then, a spate of washing-of-hands
in the true Pontius Pilate fashion (i.e., "we are not involved") from
a number of countries: Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Pakistan, India, Russia,
etc.
The U.S. intelligence strategy is working. Like a mother trying to
ferret out the truth from its kids in a typical household trouble,
countries are lining up around the world saying "I didn't do it!" or
"They did it!" Kudos to the CIA. Great way to gather intelligence
information!
Of course, there was hardly a chorus in the countries involved,
each of them said their piece in different ways, yet the message
is the same: "We didn't do it!"
You know what follows next. This is ending up to be your
mom's daily drill with the kids, when she realizes that no one
will ever come forward to take the blame. So what does your
mom do next?
You got it right, she will threaten to punish everybody! Hear Bush:
"We will smoke out the enemies!" It gets even more interesting that
at this point, Bin Laden is still a prime suspect, not the sure culprit
in this situation. Meanwhile Bin Laden is getting really scared, like a
Brooklyn thug with the NYPD heat on him--and Afghanistan, too,
for that matter.
It's just amazing how really domestic the approach and the reactions
are, even when ferreting out the truth is taking place in the
international arena.
