When I’m having a bad hair day, heading to the gym or just don’t have the time to do my hair, I reach of one of several baseball hats that are hanging on my wall. Embarrassing as it may be to admit, there are a few of them that are so worn out and stained from sweat that it should be a crime for me to wear them outside the house. Years ago I had this really cool hat washer that you could toss in the washing machine with the hat tucked inside it to clean it without it getting all bent out of shape. It might be in an unpacked box or it may have gotten lost in the big move; whatever the causes were behind it disappearing, I knew that I needed another one but no store in my area had them. When I asked at a sports store they said that they did have them but only in the summer. That doesn’t do me any good now does it? When I started looking online, this store had them and for under three dollars so I decided to give them a try. I haven’t ordered a lot of stuff from CapSized but I’ve always gotten speedy service, products that were authentic and prices that were more than fair.
Selection
CapSized offers you caps and visors from almost all colleges, sports and specialty items like FDNY, movies, cartoon series and brand names like Kangol. You can pick from international teams in the soccer section of the site as well as teams from the NHL, MLB, NFL and NBA. One bit of advice on ordering, if you see something that you like don’t drag your feet to order it because they do sell out of the more popular teams and designs. Likewise, if you go to a section and there is nothing listed, check it in a week or so because they are always updating their stock. They also have head wraps, blank hats and hats just for kids. The lay out and design of the site is fairly easy to navigate through and there is no pop up advertising however there are links on the site to other vendors. So far I haven’t seen anything that is adult in nature so I have no problem with the brood checking it out. These are all authentic items, that is why you are paying a little more for some teams or styles but if you are a fan of a team or sport you want the real deal, not some cheap copy.
Purchases
One of my favorite purchases from the site was a baseball hat washer [Sundance Ball Cap Buddy]. Just pop your baseball hat into it and toss it in the washer; the plastic frame holds the hat in place so it doesn’t get damaged or smashed up. These were so hard to find that I ordered several of them from the site and people went bonkers over them when I added them to Christmas gifts or with a hat that I was giving as a gift. I was really surprised that it was a high quality product; for three dollars I expected something that was going to break or crack but so far it’s held up great. Another thing that I really loved was the cap shaper. I am one of those people that is always trying to break the bill on the cap so that it has a nice tight curve to it. Until someone mentioned one of these I never knew that they existed. For about six dollars I got one from the site and use it on my hats and the brood have grabbed it a few times to shape and bend theirs as well. Most of the sport related hats are in the $15.00 range which is pretty much the average; visors are a little less, around ten bucks a pop. They carry hats from some of the leading name companies like Zephyr, CCM, Game Day and CapSmith so you aren’t getting cheap, inferior or knock off items.
You really have to pay attention when you are ordering something; some hats have specific sizes and others are small or large [not too hard to screw up]. Then there are some that have elastic backs, some with buckles, some that are adjustable, some are one size fits all, etc. If you have a specific hat in mind and you see one that looks like it, make sure that you read all the details of it so you get the one that you really want. When I was looking for a hat for friend that happens to be a mega hockey fan, this was the only site that had the style he wanted. I didn’t get the size right but he didn’t complain about it. I never really knew that hats came in so many sizes so it’s pretty important to know how big or small someone’s head is if you are buying them a cap or visor for them as a gift.

Payment Options
The site accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express for purchases but you can also pay via money order, check or by PayPal. They take JCB and wire transfers but unless you are ordering a ton of stuff, stick with a regular credit card. If you do pay with a credit card you are guaranteed to have your order ship out the next business day or they will deduct the price of shipping from the order. That means that you are going to get lightening fast service from them almost every single time because if they don’t get it out, they are the ones that stand to lose money. Return Policy
If you get something that you don’t like you have thirty days to make an exchange or receive a credit on your credit card. You have to return it in brand new / never worn condition and if there is some defect to it [loose threads, faded colors etc] call them first to see how you should go about making a return. I haven’t placed a lot of orders from here but the hats that I have received have all been brand new, in mint condition and look great. As far as the accessories, they too were all brand new, in sealed packages and worked as described. The return policy is there if you need it which makes me feel safe but so far they haven’t let me down.
Shipping
Charges are calculated by dollar amount and most are shipped out via UPS Ground. You can choose to expedite your order for an additional charge [that you are responsible for] and if you order a hundred dollars worth of merchandise, you can get free shipping. They do handle international orders as well as ship to Alaska and Hawaii. Ground shipments are pretty easy to calculate, anything up to twenty dollars is $4.95, anything between twenty and a hundred dollars is $6.95. They make it pretty easy to figure out the shipping but if you have any questions or need something in a hurry, call or email them.
The Bottom Line
If you are looking for hats or visors from major sports organizations, some obscure anime character, something for the kids or to spoil your favorite sports nut, this is the place to start your search. The prices aren’t outrageous, the shipping fees are more than acceptable and they are really quick to answer emails if you have questions about something. There aren’t many places like this online that I would trust with my orders but they have more than earned it. I wish they would do something about the dead links at the bottom of the page and make it a little easier to find things without having to go through the drop down boxes but it certainly isn’t a hard site to shop at.
