Breeding shows in many fields, software is no exception. When you are the leader in the field it is difficult to make major improvements, but Nero 7 Ultra Edition has achieved that difficult task. Version 6 was indeed the leader, but Nero 7 has gone a large step beyond. One way was to enlarge the scope of what Nero could do, and Nero 7 Ultra Edition enables you to enhance your utility of the digital media in completely new and innovative ways.
The new Nero Home media manager provides complete control of your PC and TV enabling you to access your media files from the comfort of your living room, or perform digital media projects on your PC, Nero 7 Ultra Edition does the job.
Nero 7 can transform your digital photos into professional animated slideshows, backup all of your valuable data, manage and search your media files, edit video or photos, create DVDs (including menus), stream your files over a media server, and compress files to take on the go. Beginners and experts alike will be amazed by what one solution can do. Really, its that good.
Just what can it do? Heres a quick summary: Nero 7 capabilities include:
1. Creation of movies from video clips, editing, adding features, compress to fit either VCD or DVD discs and even make labels.
2. Save and Restore functions; backup (automatic or manual), save to disk and password protect important backups.
3. Manage and store your ever-growing digital picture collection, make slide shows with transitions or music and burn to DVDs for subsequent TV viewing.
4. Burn and copy to DVD (DVD1, 5 or 9 formats) or CD automatically, and the new Nero Scout will search your drives for audio or video files so that you may find just the right one for your project. Perhaps of greater importance is that Nero Scout will keep you from ever losing an audio or video file again.
5. The audiophile will appreciate the support for 5.1 and 7.1 audio recording, editing and mixing as well as the ability to: Create beats, melodies and sound sequences, HQ master (192KHz) resolution audio, support up to 32 bit audio, rip tracks from audio CDs and much more.
The system requirements for Nero 7 are: Microsoft Windows 98/98SE/Me, Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4 or later), Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server (Service Pack 1 or later), MCE 2004 / 2005 and Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.
I installed Nero 7 on a machine running Windows XP Pro without any problems at all. Being somewhat familiar with Nero 6, made the operation simple and the tutorial disc showed me how to use the new features.
I use Nero as the burning engine for some other programs (which we will not discuss, for obvious reasons) that do backup, compression, burning and some other features, the not discussable ones.
Nero 7 is the latest in a distinguished series and certainly maintains the standards set by its antecedents. I have been extremely pleased with the performance of Nero throughout its evolutionary cycle and Version 7 once again proves that breeding counts.
