The Bottom Line These are the favorites for this humble reviewer of yours. Lets see if you know them.
You know who you are, dear Editor. You asked for it, so here is it. This personal list of tequilas (most of them NOT included in Epinions, I dont know why...) shows my preferences, the 10 tequilas I like and drink the most.
Please note that this list does not RANK tequilas or brands, its just simply the "top 10" list certain Epinions editor suggested me to post. SO, here is it.
- Tesoro de Don Felipe Añejo. Unique flavor, exceptionally simple, pure and smooth. This is the perfect example on how brands should focus on their product´s quality, not on image.
- Paradiso Añejo. Its just SO delicious and soft...
- 7 Leguas Blanco: are you macho enough? This is HIGH QUALITY HARD stuff, lotsa kick, lots of agave flavor, minus the killer hangovers. GOOD stuff for the hardcore connosiseur. From the producers of Patrón.
- Don Julio 1942. Not because its Don Julio, but because this añejo offers one of the most interesting flavor structures I have ever tasted. Spicy, earthy, mellow and smooth. Will become a signature product soon.
- Centinela Reposado. For those of you out there who only think tequila as an ingredient for some cocktail, look no further. Centinela is a deliciously robust reposado, amazing as a mixer considering its flavor, quality and price.
- Rey Sol. Pricey because of its bottle (designed by Sergio Bustamante, the famous mexican artist). I hated it, but I must admit that this is not just a pretty face. Its satiny texture, enchanting bouquet and exceptional roasty-agave finish falls beyond description.
- Heradura Blanco SUAVE. Make shure it has the Red rim on the label and the SUAVE legend. Among the most delicious agave presences in the tequila world, and certanly a favorite among the ladies who want to impress men who cant take straight tequila in a snifter. Has to be the smoothest 100% agave blanco of them all
- Los Cofrades Reposado. In my circle of friends, this one is regarded as the "purest tasting reposado", with exceptional balance and impressive agave finish, and certainly no smoothie. A solid performer that promise a "no hangover" guarantee. It honors it every time.
- Casa Noble Reposado. The most impressive reposado in the world, and undoubtedly the most delicious aged spirit in the world for me. Not for mixing, and its triple distillation makes this reposado a category in itself.
- Corazón reposado. Just tried it once, and I have to say it is really good, with very peculiar herbal notes, and quite smooth, mellow and warm feeling in the mouth.
- Casa Noble CRYSTAL. My all time personal favorite. Delicious, smooth, triple distilled ( NO hangovers EVER), superb agave notes, unique citrus elements on retronasal passages and bouquet, moderate attack and IMPRESSIVE texture and body, define the most impressive tequila specimen ever to come out to the market.
Im leaving out many others that I really enjoy and recommend. But then again, someone wanted to know my 10 most wanted tequilas. Some morbid souls out there were, maybe, expecting a list of exotic and unknown brands. Truth is: the best ones are out ther, and are quite popular. Its up to you to go out there and experience them for the fist time.
Maybe you will agree with my choices, but that is not the point in doing this. The point is that you try some really exquisite tequilas if you didnt know where to look!
