I love my Staber! (Reply to this comment)
by chatoyant
We used to have an old washer that chewed up clothes and made such noise I could hear it clearly on the second floor. I have had the Staber for a year now, and I love its simple and practical design, low water and detergent use (2/3 less!), quiet operation and gentleness on clothes. It was recommended by an alternative energy store, and since we lived off-grid at the time, we decided to buy. We haven't regretted the purchase yet.

Follow-up After 3 Years of Ownership (Reply to this comment)
by vigilant1
I wrote this review 2 years go, and we've owned the machine for three years altogether. The machine continues to perform flawlessly, and I still wonder why no other manufacturer makes a machine using this same design.
I've only had one "issue:" About a year ago I noticed that some of our linens were occasionally getting little snags in them. It was very infrequent, but an irritant. I wasn't sure if it was our washer or the dryer (and I'm still not sure). Anyway, I rubbed a cotton ball around the inside of the washer drum and the dryer drum to locate any rough spots, then sanded the few little imperfections down. The trouble stopped. Again, I don't know if it was the Staber washer or the (Whirlpool) dryer.

Our Staber has been great, I expect to be using it decades from now. Built like a tank.
