Earlier this year I first heard about a few programs that you can use to make free calls to anywhere in the US, so naturally I got excited. The first program that I used for this feature was Yahoo Messenger, it was pretty bad most of the time, there was a huge delay, due to this I often found myself interrupting and being interrupted by the person I was trying to carry on a conversation with. This might not sound very bad, but it can get incredibly frustrating. Well nowadays Yahoo messenger charges for this feature, an I wasn't about to pay money for this waste of time, so I just stopped using yahoo.
It was just today that I found this nifty program, I was just browsing the internet and I found an advertisement for Net2Phone so I decided to download it to see if it was any good, I found that it was way better than yahoo messenger, even though I haven't had this program long I have tested it out a lot, a few of the people that I tested didn't even know the difference between this program and the regular telephone.
Net2Phone has less of a delay than any other of these types of programs, well at least as far as I can tell, but that doesn't mean that it isn't frustrating at times, but maybe it's just my slow ISPs fault. Even with my slow ISP a lot of the calls aren't too bad, but the occasional slowdown can create a very frustrating situation.
One of the biggest cons of Net2Phone is that it only lets you talk to someone 5 minutes in a row, even though you can simply hit redial it can become very aggravating when you lose track of time and your call is disconnected in mid conversation.
Even if Net2Phone began charging for calls again this program would still be reasonable, it's old price was 1 cent per minute, the only thing better than that is being free (and it is). Net2Phone has a nice international call feature, even though it costs money it is at a reasonable price, every country has different rates. I have never tried an international call, but I have heard that calls out of the country are lower quality.
Net2Phone has some pretty cool features, you can send voice emails through it, and you can also use the PC to PC call feature which allows you to talk to people from all over the world, but it only works with someone that is also using the program online.
I like Net2Phone, if there was some way to get rid of the slight delay then this program would be almost perfect.
