Now you have me thinking. Who could play Bobby and Whitney? Would Whitney play herself? Usher as Bobby Brown? Hmmmmm.
We need to put this cast together.

Funny that you mention Whitney Houston in the first paragraph of this review because I was listening to "I Have Nothing" (which Jennifer Hudson on AI) as I was reading it. Do you think there'll be a film adaptation of the Bobby and Whitney story? I hope Whitney can make a comeback like Effie White....
Awesome review!!

For Murphy and Foxx, I can see why they would be worried. They supposedly were taking huge paycuts and then working with young singers. But it was a great career move, especially for Eddie. I think once they both saw who was signed on, it was probably a little easier to accept well below market value.
I don't think Fantasia could've done the role justice like Jennifer did. She was born to play that role I think. Now if she could just get those steps down.
Thanks Meagan.

This was a great review, GG (Reply to this comment)

I enjoyed the analogies of the soul, heart, backbone, etc. I was a little surprised that some of the actors didn't want to take parts because of the money. Dreamgirls was a very important musical and I would think that these parts would be the labor of love kind of parts actors fight over even if they stand to make a percentage of what they usually pull in.
As a Chicagoan, I'm so happy Jennifer Hudson beat out Fantasia for this. I like Fantasia, but she's on the verge of being overexposed. Jennifer Hudson deserves a chance to shine.
Looking forward to seeing this movie. Nice analysis, GG!

It matters if you enjoy the music. That is key. The story is strong, but it's more because of the music than anything else.
If someone else wanted to see it, I'd go see it a second time.

I was curious, and unsure, about this one but after reading your review I think I'll see it. Probably wait for the DVD though. I love American Idol enough that I'd watch it just to see Jennifer Hudson! Glad she got such an awesome opportunity in this film. Great review!
