After reading countless reviews and comparisons, I went to www.BeachCamera.com and ordered the Canon Digital Rebel XT (EOS 350D) digital camera (w/accessories) on Feb 25 2007. I ordered from Beach Camera because they had the best price by a wide margin and they offered free Ground shipping.
Now, since Beach Cameras website states 24-72 hours for processing, and I had ordered on a Sunday, I sort of took it for granted that my new toy would be shipped on Wednesday the 28th. I was mistaken. Apparently, Beach Camera is in its own little time-warp because my camera did not ship until March 5th
A full week after I ordered. My Visa took the hit on Monday the 26th.
The website also states 7-9 business days for delivery. I didnt get the camera until March 9th. What did I hear from Beach Camera during this time? Absolutely Nothing. I assumed that if they would not be able to ship within the stated timeframe, they would have the courtesy to inform the customer (me) of any delay. Again, I was mistaken - no e-mails, no phone calls, nothing. Up until March 5th, every time that I checked the status of my order, the website showed in processing.
I will give Beach Camera credit in that the item arrived exactly as advertised. I have to applaud FedEx The camera did not leave New Jersey until Tuesday and it was delivered in Las Vegas on Friday.
Will I order from Beach Camera again? Maybe. It again depends price. But you can be sure that if a deadline is involved, I will look elsewhere for other options.
In a few months, I may have enough working knowledge of the camera to post a review.
