The Bottom Line They are all great, look em up today!
Ok, so here are my favorite albums, but keep in mind, these are all albums i own, if i don't own it, thats why it is not on the list. But still, i have a vast music collection and these are my favorites out of that. This list may not include the biggies, but has some classics, and some hidden bands as well.
Ok, so here they are...
10) Digger - Keystone
If you have never heard of digger, look them up. While this is the only CD of theirs i have, it is still a great cd. It is a pity the band broke up just recently, but this is still a great band, and a great CD. The classify this band, i would say they are a heavy punk band crossed with emo, but without too whiney of voices.
9) Bad Religion - The process of belief
I think that many people would tend to disagree with this, but i like this bad religion record more that any others. I have 3 others, and this is my favorite. It is their fastest, loudest, and i think most fun album. It has some great songs like evangalie, sorrow, and broken, but i think the whole CD is great. I would catorgorize this as aggresive punk.
8) Goldfinger - Hangups
While most bands get worse as they move into the main-stream, i think it is the opposite with goldfinger. This CD has a lot of great song's, with headliner "superman". But the entire cd is amazing, and really has a mix of styles within its self, from the easy ska, to old school aggressive. This is a ska/punk cd, and a good band.
7) Less than Jake - Hello Rockview
Less than jake is probably my favorite band, and it shows, because i have 9 of thier records. And out of them all, including thier newest one, i think this is them at their best. The later albums dont have the horns enough, and the early ones are to ska, and indie. I think that this is a good combonation. Many would agrue that pezcore is thier best, but i think this goes first. They are a ska/punk band.
6) Greenday - Insomniac
Many would say Dookie is greendays best, and it is very good. But when i first listened to insomniac, i thought it was more down to the basics, and the entire cd flowed well together. Dookie had better songs than insomniac, but insomniac was a better CD as a whole. Greenday is just plain punk.
5) Dead Kennedeys - fresh fruit for rotting vegetables
This is a great album with great songs. Dead kennedeys best. This is an old school band with an old school sound. Many great songs, and a great flow. It is classic punk rock, very political.
4) The Clash - Combat rock
This is my only clash album, and by album i mean album. I think that it has really good songs on it, such as should i stay or should i go, and i cant say it is better than london calling, but i think some of the songs are better than the song london calling. This is again, classic punk rock.
3) Operation Ivy - Energy (operation ivy)
This is a great cd, with one of my favorite songs on it, bad town. I think that this cd is true punk rock at its finest. This is also one of my favorite CD's. There isnt much else to say about this, but is a must-have for cd-collectors. This is classic punk, with a hint of ska.
2) Dillinger Four - Versus God
You may be suprised to see a new band up here, especially one you may not have ever heard of, but this is one of my favorite bands of all time, and pretty much my favorite cd (most of the time). every song on it, with exception to 1, is great. Some of its good songs are "Maximum p!ss and vinegar", "last communiun", and "learning disorder". Definitly get this CD. They are a fresh sound in todays punk. The guitars have a new treble sound, and kind of sounds like old punk, and the singers have two distinct voices. The lead had a harsh, high voice, which is a breath of fresh air compared to all the whinyness of today, and the bassist, 2nd singer, has a sound that is deep, and harsh, similer to al barr of Dropkick Murpheys. They are good ol punk rock, and great.
Here ye, Here ye, the Number 1 is...
1) Dropkick Murphys - Live on Saint Patricks Day
This album is amazing, and if you have never heard of dropkick murphys you must. While they may not sound tasteful to the common ear, to a true music lover, they are great. They are similar to flogging molly, in the way that they are irish, and have bagpipes, flute, and mandolin in their band (not always, but often), but have a great, individual sound to them. This CD is great, because it is basically a best of dropkick murphys. It goes from the days of Mike McChalgun, (sorry if i mispelled), all the way to they CD Sing Loud Sing Proud, which just missed the list. I suggest that you listen to this band before you by the CD, but i think that you should all like it very much, because it is my number One. It is yet again, punk rock, but with an irish twist.
