Pros: Great Animation (CGI), Good Plot, Respects the History of the Turtles
Cons: Main Enemy Dies Too Easy, Foot Clan Teams with Turtles, No Theme Song!
The Bottom Line: TMNT is a great movie to carry on the franchise. I'm looking forward to the next one...if there is one.

| spongebob_man1's Full Review: TMNT |
One of my favorite childhood cartoons has finally made it back to the big screen! It's way, way better than the original live action films. From the intro to the credits, if you like action and a little humor...you'll be entertained.
I went to the movie with my mom and girlfriend. It was like a family night out kind of thing. It was fun. Except for the 5 really loud, really talkative, really stupid teenagers behind us. My mom and I both had to tell them to be quiet. Grr, that makes me so mad when people talk during movies - at the theater! And they weren't whispering, it was loud.
But the movie was good and that's what this review is all about. So moving along...

TMNT
The movie opens with the plot setup. Basically, in ancient times a powerful warrior opens a portal and unleashes 13 monsters on the earth. At the same time a curse is put on him and his "family". They are to become immortal. The main warrior remains alive and the other four are turned to stone.
Then we find out what has been going on with the Ninja Turtles. Leonardo is on a training mission to become a better leader. Michelangelo is entertaining kids at birthday parties. Donatello is doing...something. And Raphael has been moonlighting as the Nightwatcher, a crime fighting vigilante.
The Team:
Leonardo - The leader of the pack. He wears blue and fights with two Katana (swords).
Michelangelo - The "slow" but funny one. He wears orange and devastates his enemy with a pair of nunchucks.
Donatello - The brainy one of the bunch. Color choice = purple. Weapon of choice = bo (staff).
Raphael - The red he wears matches his fiery temper. This break the rules bad boy loves to fight and does what he wants. He dishes out damage with a pair of sais.
The Sensei:
Splinter - Calm, wise and talented martial artist. Splinter is the "father" of the turtles and serves as their guiding light. I was really happy that Splinter joined the fight!
The Crew (Sidekicks):
Casey Jones - Hockey mask wearing bad boy, kicks butt with sports equipment and dates April O'Neil.
April O'Neil - Former news reporter, currently a closet ninja... She's hooked up with Casey Jones.
The movie was paced nicely. It had good action, character development and plot. However, as often happens in action movies - the end came too quickly. The resolution was predictable. I also thought the way the main villain turned repenting warrior was a little corny.
He floated in the air, filled with light and blew up into little pieces! Come on!! That's so played out! Luckily, they were able to pull a little comedy out of it because Michelangelo had something funny to say about it.
Favorite Scene:
The quality of the animation shines throughout the entire film, however, I was really impressed by the fighting scene between Leonardo and Raphael on the rooftop in the rain. It looked very, very nice. The typical sibling squabble is a little more complicated when it involves weapons and hand-to-hand combat!
I really appreciate the fact that the director and producers took the Ninja Turtles seriously and portrayed them according to their history. I always hate it when you get a director that takes a cool character and just coats them with cheese. Fantastic Four and Catwoman come most readily to mind. Those movies sucked because they were corny. Oh, and let's not forget Daredevil. I hope the person that picked Ben Affleck (a poor actor) to play that role has been out of work. Back to my point, the director Kevin Munroe made the turtles feel authentic and realistic. Like the way the Lord of the Rings movies and Harry Potter have been done.
Conclusion:
Since I was young, I've been a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was really looking forward to this movie. The experience was slightly dampened by 5 annoyingly idiotic teens sitting behind my mom, my girlfriend, and I. But overall, it was an awesome movie.
I was really pleased with the graphics, the storyline, and the voice actors. The only major disappointment was that they did not play the theme song, not even a modernized remixed version!
I liked the movie a lot. It's one I will buy on DVD. I think you'll like it too if you enjoyed the Turtles in the past or are interested in a fun, family friendly action flick.
