Ben Davis clothing If you aren't into service-wear clothing, work in a garage or are as tragically hip as my friends Tommy and Corey, chances are the name "Ben Davis" won't ring a bell. Think of them as Dickie's but better made, a tad less expensive and will last a hell of a lot longer. So how did I manage to get sucked into this underground fashion trend? You can blame it all on Kid Rock. Yes, you read that right, good old Robbie had to start sporting these and spread the word about them. The same fashion trend happened with getting your belly button pierced, wearing those goofy string strap backpacks and shopping at Hot Topic. Let some celebrity sport something for even a day and all of a sudden everyone wants to emulate it. I do have to defend Kid Rock here, he'd been wearing them for a long time before he tossed in a mention on the "American Bad A$$" track.
"Devil without a cause and I'm back, with the beaver hats and Ben Davis slacks"
Gorilla Gear is one of the best sites to turn to if you are looking for authentic Ben Davis products. I compared them to others that offered more stock, better descriptions and photos but found that Gorilla Gear cuts through all the garbage and sells you the real deal. Tommy had a sweet black hooded jacket that I tried to steal from him on more than a few occasions; there's nothing all that special about it but I could wear it over sweatshirts without it feeling like I was Maggie Simpson in a snowsuit. When I needed to get both Tommy and Corey presents for their birthdays I headed back to Gorilla Gear again to do some shopping. They offer free ground shipping on orders over a hundred dollars so that gave me the perfect excuse to grab a few things for myself at the same time.
I am not going to church things up here. Gorilla Gear is a basic website; you won't get flashy graphics or pages of information. If you know Ben Davis clothing and what you want, then this is the site for you. I doubt there are many females that would hit the site for the latest fashion trends; most of the Davis lines are for industrial settings. That didn't stop me from getting an incredibly awesome paid of painter pants for about $30.00. I had them dyed to a darker color because if you put me in anything that isn't black or gray, I will find some way to get completely covered in dirt in a matter of minutes. Another favorite from the site is the previously mentioned black hooded jacket. If curiosity gets the best of you, you can check out a picture of it here: www.gorillagear.com/images/jackets344.jpg. Sure it cost around fifty five dollars but you can put this thing through hell and it isn't going to show any signs of wear.
So what else can you get at the site? Pretty much anything that Ben Davis cranks out. The hats are nice but there aren't many styles to choose from. There are various cuts and styles of pants and demin blends to choose from and they come in a huge spectrum of sizes. You can never go wrong with the Ben Davis shirts; my favorite being the basic shirt that sells for $13.00. These make awesome gifts for people who are into the Davis line and they are extremely durable. The black one that I purchased for myself has been through the wash at least 20 times and still has the same dark rich color as the day I received it. If you are looking for overalls, long sleeve work shirts, industrial coveralls or just something that is going to last for years, Ben Davis is the way to go and Gorilla Gear is the website to hit.
Prices are average when compared to other sites. The coveralls that I priced for Tommy are priced at $41.99, other sites had them for $41.00 to $45.00 so I am not going to shop elsewhere to save .99 cents and wonder if my order is ever going to arrive. Since they offer free shipping for orders over one hundred dollars, this is what makes me come back to the site over and over. Is it better to save .99 cents at another site and pay $7.95 for shipping or stick with Gorilla Gear and pay about a dollar more for an item and save a lot with shipping? My orders have arrived in about a week from the time that the order was filled and I was kept up to date with the status of my order.
Billing is dead on balls accurate too; the first order I placed went through perfectly with my debit MasterCard. Usually there is some type of snafu when you use a debit card instead of a credit card but I didn't have any problems whatsoever. They also accept Visa and Discover cards for purchased and as far as I can tell, things aren't charged to your account until the order is ready to ship out. They do offer you a thirty day return period on items that are new and unworn but if try something out and it doesnt work out for you, email them or call them and they'll work with you to make sure you are satisfied. Dont expect to use the "it was defective" excuse because Ben Davis clothing is inspected when it is made and again before it ships out to vendors and stores.
So far I have had nothing but great shopping experiences with this site and I recommend it to anyone that is looking for the real deal when it comes to buying Ben Davis clothing. Trust me, I hunted high and low at local stores to find what I was looking for and when I exhausted all my options, Gorilla Gear came through for me. I can't complain about the shipping time because it is free if you order a hundred dollars or more. I order, they ship, everyone is happy. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
As always, thanks for the visit
