Pros: Solid, good range, vibration mode (with suitable battery)
Cons: Heavier and less feature-laden than other (more expensive) phones
The Bottom Line: Other phones in the Nokia range have come down in price, but if you want a cheap phone with vibration option, you could do worse.

| oceanclub's Full Review: Nokia 5110 |
So far I've had 3 makes of mobile phones. The first was one I got free, but was so ridiculously large and unwieldy that I looked like an Communist-era East European pimp with it. The second one was a flip Motorola, which had abysmal reception; indoors, I had to stand at the nearest open window to attempt a conversation. And after a few months, the rather flimsy flip broke during normal use, along with other parts of the casing.
The third phone I picked up was a Nokia 5110, and I've had one every since (well, 2 of them, since the 1st was stolen). Why do I like it? Well, above all, it's cheap. I think it's a waste spending a fortune on a phone that's going to severely depreciate in price. And especially when you can get the 5110. First of all the basics. It's fairly compact and light, offers a study casing, good battery life, great reception and a very intelligent, stylish and uncluttered interface. Those reasons are 95% of the reasons why I - and I suspect most people - would buy a phone, and I think the Nokia 5110 fulfills them all adequately.
The phone doesn't have inbuilt vibration mode, but you can have this with the addition of a vibrating battery (which I suggest you buy online from Asia if you want it cheap!).
There are more recent additions to the Nokia range in a similar price bracket that are lighter and offer more features, but I stuck with the 5110 because of this vibration options.
There's games, if you like that sort of thing (only to be played if absolutely bored on the bus in my case).
