What Works For My Oily Combination Skin And Lips.

Dec 20 '03

The Bottom Line Keep it simple. Get your creams, toners, scrubs and masks together and start a short routine each morning and night for a healthy glow and younger looking skin.

I can only say what has worked for me and my combination skin. Now that I'm 37 years old, my skin and yours, will certainly change. I know mine has.

There are of course some things that are written in stone, and some things learned through trial and error. Of course, I read alot about health care and most everything starts from within.

Eating the right foods and maintaining a healthy balance of fruits and vegetables are a must in any health care routine.

If you have no thyroid problems or other health issues that may affect the outcome of your complexion then I suggest these things to keep your skin and lips in tip top shape.

First off, make sure you never go to bed with your make-up still on. We don't want to clog those pores. Be sure to cleanse skin properly with soap or a cleanser of your choice to match your skin care needs.

Oily, dry or in-between all need the proper wash. And most of all, remember to keep your hands away from your face. Acids from your hands along with the dirt can cause some ugly breakouts.

I suggest washing twice to make sure you have removed all traces of dirty residue from your face. And do not use hot water. It can lead to dryer skin and vericose veins. After washing, apply a toner.

I use Clearasil for sensitive skin. Or witch hazel is a wonderful toner. It ensures that my skin will avoid any major breakouts and shrinks my pores temporarily. After all, no toner will shrink your pores permanetly.

I then use a face cream made for my skin type. I have oily skin, so I use a very light cream formulated by Avon and especially on my neck. Don't forget to use the cream on your neck as this too if neglected can add years to your face. I also use an under eye puff gel that sets over night to ensure that I wake with no puffyness. I always use Avon. They have some new products out for the face that I love.

Anew from Avon is great! They have the creams and under eye gels I can't live without.

Also, when removing your make-up make sure to be easy around the eye area. It's very sensitive. If you have acne and use anything for to treat that, make sure to apply it instead of the cream I suggested. I alternate between the two to make sure I get the best of both worlds.

If you have very oily skin I would suggest not using too much of any face cream, unless you have wrinkles. The oil your skin produces is enough to keep your face hydrated without adding cream to clog your pores even worse.

There are many products that are on the market, you just have to find what works for you the best.

I also use an Apricot scrub 3 times a week to loosen up dead skin cells for a glowing complexion. Or a "Mudd" mask does wonders for tightening your skin and shrinking your pores and for also soaking up that extra oil we produce.

Most of all, keep it short and sweet. It doesn't have to be costly or time consuming. I suggest using the wash, toner and or scrub at night and the scrub and toner in the morning.

To include your lips, keep peppermint lip balm on as much as possible. If you can find a chamomile balm, I suggest using that to calm chapped lips as well. The bottom line for lips.. protect, protect, protect. Sunscreen for both face and lips are a must no matter what skin type you have. Keep plenty on hand and avoid as much sun as possible to retain your youthful appearance.
