Many of my family and my friends live in other States (and Countries) than I do. Therefore, I rely on online sites to order their flowers and gifts. While there are a few stores I always check first, I like to try new stores as well. I had received flowers from 1800flowers.com so I thought Id give them a try and placed two separate orders.
Note: They are being sued for a million by a married man who claims they let his wife find out about his affair by sending a thank you for ordering note to his house. So, if that is your plan, you might try a different site LOL
FINDING WHAT YOU WANT
There are 5 main categories (and many-sub categories) at 1800flowers.com:
Occasions
With 11 sub-categories ranging from Birthday to New Baby to Wedding
Flowers
With 12 sub-categories ranging from Liles to Mixed Arrangements to Roses
Plants
With 6 sub-categories ranging from Bonsai to Orchids to House Plants
Gift Baskets & Food
With 3 sub-categories ranging from Food to Gift Baskets to Sweets
More Gifts
With 10 sub-categories ranging from Best Sellers to Gift Cards to Sale Items
There is a Find A Gift Fast option where you put the occasion, where you want it to go and when it needs to arrive. I gave it a try listing a zip a State away, giving them three days until delivery and choosing Just because as the occasion. This brought up four pages from $26.99 to $129.99.
There is also an search option which works by keyword.
SHOPPING & DELIVERY
I will start this section out with a complaint. Once you bring up a sub-category there are often pages of choices. While this is a good thing, when I tried to use the option of having them listed from Low to High (or High to Low) in price, it brings them up in the most absurd order! You can have two arrangements that vary by $60 next to each other and then have the price drop down $30 for the next only to have it jump up another $70 for the next! Why offer such an option if it doesnt work?
1800flowers.com does have a nice selection which is always a plus. Some of the items I noticed and may have to go back and order are the multiple choices of the Gigantic Fortune Cookie which I have bought from other places and are always a lot of fun. I also thought the Summer Fishing Treats was really cute - a paper mache tackle box filled with 12 colorful fishing cookies.
This time I was just getting flowers though and again, there was a nice. One thing I liked was that many of them came with the vase and they were in nice vases that actually worked instead of that standard vase that is often shipped. They have some nice orchid bouquets and my daughter just loved the Rose & Calla Lily arrangement. Their prices seem to be right on par with some of the other sites I have used. They also accept coupon codes which are readily available, lowering the price.
The delivery cost was $12.99 and I was able to track my orders. I had given plenty of time for the orders to be there on time (over a week) and they both did get there on the proper days.
~~**~~**~~2BUZYS FINAL THOUGHTS~~**~~**~~
There are many things I like about 1800flowers.com:, the site is easy to navigate, the selection is good, they put out online coupons, accept paypal and got the orders delivered on time. I do have a bit of a problem with the way the arrangements can't be shown placed in order of cost and that some flowers can't be delivered to all zip codes. I am giving them 4 out of five stars.
