I have always been surprised by online health stores. I like to by a wide variety of products online, but health products online have always been disappointing to me. The sites with good selections are slow & expensive, and vice versa. When planetrx.com(which I liked) closed they had a link to vitacost.com.
When I first navigated their site I was so amazed at the prices I thought there was a catch. Compared to drugstore.com some of the same items are half as much, and all similar items are cheaper at vitacost. They even have a price guarantee, but I have never seen a cheaper price anywhere.
The only negative is that you can't do all your health & wellness shopping at vitacost. They specialize in herbs, vitamins, nutritional & other supplements, and weight loss. There is also personal care & homeopathy products.
For what they specialize in, the selection is great, especially the herbal products. They carry most of the national brands in all categories, but they special in "all-natural products" that are tough to find elsewhere.
All of my orders have been received correctly and promptly. For most products they will get your order out same day if you order before 1pm est. There is a flat shipping charge of $4.95 for all orders. So it is recommended to stock up when you make an order.
Site navigation is a little lax. There are categories, but some products are still hard to find. Also the products are listed in a cramped together, data-only format. Also there are no customer reviews, recommendations, or other special features. Product information is just standard. I cannot comment on customer service because I have never had a problem.
Overall, Vitacost.com has become my favorite online store.
