I've been using Net10 as my cell phone provider for about 1 year now, and I'm pretty happy. The cell phone was cheap ($30, and it came with $30 worth of minutes). It's nothing fancy - a black and white Nokia 1100 phone in the candy bar form factor. It was one of the refurb phones sold directly by net10, but as far as I can tell it's good as new. In particular it's cosmetically perfect, and the battery seems to last as long as it should. No games or other services are included, but hey, I'm just looking for a phone here. I've had it for about a year now, and am still completely satisfied. They no longer carry this model, however, they do have a similar Nokia phone with a color display, for $30, which comes with $30 free minutes.
The price per minute, as the name implies, really is 10 cents a minute, even when I'm on vacation. In my traveling around California and Florida, I've always had coverage whenever I'm in a city, even a small one. The phone calls are clear and have never cut out. The minutes expire 2 months after you buy them, if you buy at least 300 minutes at a time, but if you refill the minutes before they expire they carry over the old minutes. Thus, if you buy 1000 minutes, you can then just keep on extending the expiration by buying 150 minute cards every month. I don't see the point of buying 1000 minutes, however, as there's no discounted rate over buying just 150 or 300 minutes.
The website is a bit clunky, but I've always been able to buy new minutes when I needed them, and even the first time I used the site it only took 10 minutes to figure it out. They just added a feature where you can buy more minutes using your cell phone, so you may be able to bypass the website entirely.
I've never had to talk to customer service, which is probably why I'm so much more happy than the other customers who have posted reviews here.
