| DCAST35's Full Review: Sony 8MB Memory Card PS2 |
I've had episodes with other memory cards. NES...whoa to far back. Dreamcast cards, which were big and thick, and for no reason at all because they didn't hold much. The Vmu kind ate batteries in a weeks time and didnt have much use anyway! You saved Code Veronica only once and it took up half the space.
Nintendo 64, also big and blocky but had an ok space storage. But it was still overpriced, and I found that I could have bought a cheaper one included with a rumble pack. Regular playstation memory cards were so much smaller than the other cards, but held more! Understand that? All the others should have been called memory blocks...Are you laughing? I knew you wouldn't....
Then the ps2 memory came out. What to say it's basically the same kind of memory card. A black one, which looks good with the blue logo on it, and a white one which I rarely see. Both are Officially Sony Produced, and promise long game save, a lot of space, and durability. I find all those to be true, and it did exactly that. It can hold a lot of blocks and you wont have to sacrifice other games to make room for others. Transfer is nice to, and it's extremely quick in loading. Sometimes though, it can take forever for the game to make a file for it. Like the recently ported RE:Code Veronica. NEVER have I had a problem where the information deleted and cost me hours of gameplay....Thats where the other mem. cards come in.
The biggest gripe I had was the friggin' price! 34.99! What the hell is that! The price has gone down, but is there a difference? 2 bucks....I understand that Sony is money hungry but they could have stuffed it in there with everything else. Not like they can say it didn't fit....But for that price of course it's good. Sony may be evil sometimes but they can't rip off people. Or have they done that already?
If nothing else, go with the MadCatz 8MB Memory card. It's see through green, comes with stickers to write things on and a carrying case for the card for under 28 dollars. It does the job and it's faster than the other Sony card. Either is a safe bet....Next thing you know we are gonna have things called digicards...oops that's the GameCubes idea.....
