We purchased 3 of these printers through Amazon.com and Mac Mall. Really, all we wanted to use them for were to print on CD's for identification. It was pretty easy to install the printer and the prints came out very nice. But that is as far as it goes.
The first printer we used for 14 CD's - all with VERY little coverage. Just Black text and a small color logo. We printed these 2 at a time over the course of 1 month. Well, when trying to print the 15th CD, we got a solid red light on the ink button. Running the Epson Print utility, it showed that ALL 6 color cartridges needed replacement. That is totally ridiculous! Having paid $75 for the printer, that adds up to just a little over $5 a CD.
The Second printer we printed out 12 CD's (similar to above and 2 photos (4x6). Same thing. That is all the ink cartridges went.
Now, we are afraid the 3rd printer will quit out on us too as we already printed 8 CD's.
It doesn't matter how nice the prints are. If Epson is going to make a printer with ink carts that don't last any reasonable time, they are not going to win over new customers! It's my fault for not paying attention to the negative posts all over Epinions and other boards regarding to the dismal ink usage.
The printers will become junk in a landfill as it costs almost as much for a new printer (with new inks) as for regular carts only.
