Annoying!
I want to state the main downfall of BAMM.COM first. That is I do not like BAMM.COM the pop-ups that seem to jump out at you all the time while searching the site. Luckily they are mostly for book clubs or things pertaining to BAMM.COM. But nonetheless they are annoying and I could do without them.
Lots of Stuff!
They not only have magazines and books but audio books, e-books and coffee. Occasionally they also have small gift items. They have a wide variety and every book I searched for they had it.
Shipping
There were no shipping charges on the magazine subscriptions that I ordered but there is shipping on single magazine orders. They have standard ground shipping which takes 5-10 business days and costs $2.49 per order plus $0.99 per item. 2nd Day Air shipping takes 4-5 business days and costs $6.99 per order plus $1.99 per item and Next Day Air and takes 3-4 business days is $10.99 plus $2.99 per item. The number of days I stated is total delivery time which includes 2-3 days for order processing time. Shipping can get pricey if you are buying lots of item but they do state if items weigh less your shipping may be decreased. International shipping rates are more expensive.
Tax
BAMM.COM collects 8% sales tax on all orders shipped to Florence & Alabama, also for orders shipped to Alabama addresses outside of Florence, they collect 5% sales tax.
Payments Accepted
BAMM.COM accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. But you can also pay by check or money order by calling their Customer Service dept. (1-800-201-3550) and mail them in. To order over the phone they want you go have the ISBN #’s of the items you want.
Order Tracking
On the BAMM.COM website you can go to your account and enter your email address to view the status of your order. They do not offer any type of UPS or other mail tracking besides what they show you on the site.
Returns
I am not extremely happy with BAMM.COM’s return policy. They do guarantee your satisfaction by offering a “hassle-free” policy. You can return your order within 30 days of receiving and a full refund will be made to your credit card. They do not refund shipping and handling! Also, returns can not be made at Books-A-Million retail stores.
Giving Gifts
BAMM.COM offers paper and email gift certificates for convenience. You can choose a gift certificate of any denomination between $1 and $1,000! I think that is the greatest thing, most places you have to choose either $15 or $50 or something like that-at BAMM.COM it can be whatever amount you want.
My Ordering Experience
I ordered 2 magazine subscriptions for 2 different people-but getting them sent out to them was a piece of cake. When you add a subscription to your cart you are immediately prompted to enter their mailing address and whether you want to gift wrap it or send a free gift card with it. I am guessing that sending books as gifts are done in the same manner. I received an email immediately stating that they received my order and would be shipping out in 24 hours. I then received an email the next morning stating that they 2 subscriptions were sent to my address. I was confused as I wanted them sent as gifts.
So I emailed customer service and told them what the problem was. Within the hour they emailed me back and apologized for the confusion and that the subscriptions were sent out to the 2 addresses I provided. I was very happy with their email! I am pasting a part of it below:
“Thank you for your email to booksamillion.com. Upon researching your order, I have found that the magazines are not shipping to you, but to two individual men. We do apologize for the misunderstanding and hope that we are better able to serve you in the near future.”
Two days later I received a letter from Books-A-Million with an overview of my order stating that it was shipped to my two friends and that my credit card was charged and thanking me for shopping with them.
In Closing
I am overly satisfied with all aspects of shopping online with BAMM.COM and will place future orders with them! Their prices are below retail price and shipping is rather reasonable. Their customer service is outstanding and my orders have gone through smoothly.
