Fireflies Info (Reply to this comment)
by research2000
Working towards publishing a piece that would include a section on Ribbon Records. Question. Wasn't Alan Kallman the President of Ribbon not Herman as cited in your Fireflies section on One Hit Wonders? Also, where did the quote come from and how can I cite it? By the by, difinitive writing on a long forgotten subject.

Sorry I did not respond a lot sooner than today. I just found out today that for some strange reason most of my Comment alerts have been turned off and I am having to check each one and turned them back on again, what a pain in the behind.

Without Someone Like You... (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
...how would I have ever found out that a couple of my favorite songs from the 1950s were done by the same person using different names!?!
Dicky Doo Clark!?! Surely that wasn't the name on his birth certificate! If it is, Dick Clark is right up there with Michael Jackson and his Blanket!!!
Cheers!

...editorial as usual!

PS: (CAN'T YOU) TRIP LIKE I DO by Filter is different on the Spawn soundtrack. It features a "duet" with the Techno group The Crystal Method, who have a "solo" version of the same song on their album titled, VEGAS. All 3 songs are different. Weird, huh? Just more choices.
Just thought you might like to know that little bit of info.

Re: hmm - Thank you Jan (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for commenting and I will gladly add "Harry Chapin" to my To Do list that is getting very long these mostly with special requests from you Great Members. I think maybe I could do a review where I cover 1-hit or 2-hit wonders by choosing one Artist from each letter? Maybe something along those lines is where I can squeeze in a lot of missed artists I have requests to cover?

Thanks for you comment Pete. I hope to cover "100 Proof Aged in Soul" when I get to the O's in a year or so. I will try to squeeze "The Flaming Ember" in somewhere and I'm sorry I missed covering them sooner.

Don't think I've heard any of these, but I enjoyed reading about them, especially the movies you mentioned. Anyway, Harry Chapin is who I'm interested in right now.

...and I wonder if anybody remembers "100 Proof Aged In Soul's" follow-up "I'm Not My Brother's Keeper" on Hot Wax Records...great song! Strange that same label's band..."Flaming Ember" with their hit..."Westbound Number Nine" sounds so much like "100 Proof"!!! Thanks again for some great memories!...Peter

That is the whole point of my doing these reviews, to bring them back into our sub-conscious awareness to how they helped no matter how small contribute to the music of the past.

I can only recall 2 of these songs....
Time, bad memory, and a lot of other great songs -reasons why the 1-hit wonders fade into music history?
Thanks for the review
