Pros: See how Jango Fett became Jango Fett. Well written.
Cons: The art is not up to the story level. Somewhat predictable.
The Bottom Line: This is a fun comic. It does not add to the continuity, just fills in the background, but it is high octane storytelling.

Star Wars Jango Fett: Open Seasons Written by Hayden Blackman Illustrated by Ramon Bachs.
The Mandalorians are a warrior society, defined by their code of conduct, and their armour. The pinnacle of the warrior arts, one among them by definition must be the best. And that one is Jango Fett. He was so formidable that he was chosen to be the template for the Clone Army, the secret weapon Darth* Sidious used to crush all opposition to his absolute rule. But how did Jango Fett come to be Jango Fett?
This is the story. In four chapters…Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, we see the path that took Jango Fett from a farmers son to the pinnacle of Mandalorian lethality.
Summer: Decades ago, a splinter group of Mandalorians called Deathwatch led by Vizsla were hunting the core of the Mandalorians led by the Jaster Mareel. The Mandalorians had fled to Concord Dawn, Fett’s home planet. In hunting the Mandalorians, they tortured and killed Fett’s father and mother for helping the hunted mercenaries. Jester Mareel took the child, and allowed him to help in the operation to punish the Deathwatch. And that is how Fett became a Mandalorian.
Fall: Ten years before the Battle of Geonosis. Silas, a Mandalorian and friend of Jango Fett has been captured by Count Dooku. Under torture, he reveals the story of Jango’s first command.
As part of a rescue mission, Jango is given command of a squad of ground pounders, whose job it will be to hold the escape craft while Jester leads the infiltration assault, and another squad provides air cover.
Unfortunately, it is a Deathwatch trap, and they are cut to pieces. Only Jango’s quick thinking and never say die attitude gets them through, though at great cost. Now Jango leads his battle groups of Mandalorians.
Winter: Twelve years before the battle of Geonosis. Through the machinations of Count Dooku, the Governor of Galidraan has hired Jango and his Mandalorians to end an insurrection on his planet. Through manipulation and the involvement of the Deathwatch, the Mandalorians had to face a force of Jedi, led by Master Dooku. Jango was the sole survivor of the Mandalorians, but the Jedi lost over half their number, substantially weakening the order. Jango was sold by the Governor as a slave.
Spring: Ten years before the Battle of Geonosis. Tyranus meets with Jango Fett to hear his tale of how he escaped slavery, tore through the Galidraan defenses to reclaim his armour, and slaughtered Vizsla and his Deathwatch to reclaim his honor and the legacy of Jaster Mareel. Tyranus proposes to use him to create a clone army. Jango agrees, but on a condition. He wants a clone, to raise not as a son, but as an apprentice, to carry on the legacy of Jaster Mareel, and the Mandalorians.
This is a good comic, a solid back-story for one of the more popular villains of the Old Republic Trilogy. Jango is a hard, heartless man, yes, but he lacks the malevolence of the Sith. He is a much more human adversary, and one tough SOB. This comic shows the shaping of the Mercenary, both by fate, the warrior culture of the Mandalorians, and the machinations of the Sith.
Bachs art is more stylized than I like, but avoids falling into either the grossly distorted proportions or manga style I dislike in serious comics. I give it a B-, mostly for lack of realism. Many people will like this far better than I.
Over all, this book falls below brilliance, but rises above mediocrity. Call it three and a half stars.
Like Jango Fett, this review is Lean-N-Mean, a style under 666 words to encourage concise writing. Original idea by Sleeper54. This one is 627 words long.
