Romasuave's 100th Review W/O
Jul 24 '05
The Bottom Line Happy 100th to Romasuave!
This is a writeoff to celebrate Romasuave's 100th review. Have fun reading my responses.
Member Name and meaning behind it (if there is one)
There's not much meaning to my member name. I'm a poet and I was 16 when I signed onto Epinions. Simple enough.
Date I joined Epinions
Well, one can easily go to my profile and see, but I joined this site on March 1st, 2004
How I stumbled upon Epinions
I had actually came to this site looking for reviews on possible MP3 players to purchase (still haven't got one, yet) and somehow found myself perusing different music reviews. It took me a couple months before I decided to join the site and about twice that long before I became decent at writing reviews.

My very first review (with link and description)
Cee-Lo Green...Is The Soul Machine was my first "real" review (disregarding the poems I posted before it) and to be honest, it's garbage. It's lazy, boring, and devoid of all soul. It may be a great review from someone who has just started on the site, but I can't stand looking at it. It's even sadder that I wrote 4 more reviews like it on the same day.
The 3 favorite reviews that Ive written (with links)
Aquemini - OutKast. This was my 100th review of one of my favorite albums. I don't think I've written a better review since then, due to the fact that I haven't liked an album as much as I did that one. It'll probably remain as my favorite and best review because I'm not inspired to write as long and as detailed anymore.
The Ultimate Collection - Rick James. I believe I was in a zone when I wrote this review and the previous one in a span of 24 hours. It's probably the last time I had great inspiration when writing reviews (that didn't rely on gimmicks or concepts). Anyway, with this review, I tried to describe the influence of Rick James through his best songs and I believe I succeeded at that task.
Body & Soul: Sweet Seduction - Various Artists. This was part of a series of reviews where I adopted a midnight-love DJ persona. I don't know why I adopted that persona nor did I know if it was going to work. I guess I figured that there was no other way to "review" these types of compilations. When someone said that it had her "looking for volume dial on the screen", I figured why not try it again in future reviews of compilations.
My most complete review
This was a hard decision for me to make because I have several reviews that could qualify for "completeness" - a word that could mean many things. But, I'll have to go with R.U.L.E. - Ja Rule because it's rather concise and gets across what I think about the album without extraneous fluff (plus it received a MH), even though it's nowhere close to being one of my favorite reviews.
My most successful Write-Off (If I wrote one, include link)
Don't have the energy or creativity to create a writeoff, so next topic.
Favorite W/O I participated in (with link)
This one's easy. I'm going to go with Justin's "Your Life's Soundtrack" writeoff because I love music and it was fun trying to find songs to describe the different stages of life.
My most lucrative review (with link and $$$ earned)
Encore - Eminem. I made $11.23 on this review. It's probably the best thing that came from listening to this pathetic album.
Things I like most about Epinions
Well, it's been a while since I've been fully involved on Eps (I'm planning to "retire" pretty soon), but I would have to say the camaraderie and sense of community is good on this website. Another thing I like about this site is that I'm constantly receiving recommendations on music I never would have listened to before when I read different reviews on here.
Things I dislike most about Epinions
Probably the fact that many great writers, or at least, in the music section, are slowly fading away. I remember when I first signed up to this site, there were more quality writers contributing reviews almost every day in several musical genres. Not dissing any of the current crop of reviewers, because they still write well, but looking through old comments and old reviews, it seems like as time goes on, more established writers are disappearing from Epinions.
Members I admire most on Epinions
brotherman. My favorite writer on the site. I enjoy the way that he puts the soul of each thing he discusses into a review. I envy his musical knowledge and poetry skill and I can only hope that I can reach his level. I wish that he writes a bit more on this site, though. The site can only benefit from his presence.
whisperscream. I can only thank Justin for opening up my mind to listening to different artists even though I sometimes ignore some of his suggestions. I wish I still had his enthusiasm for writing on this site, but I'm getting jaded.
My ultimate goal at Epinions
When I first started on this site, my only goal was to reach 100 reviews. Since I've done that, my next goal was to reach 200 reviews. Since I'm not going to reach that milestone due to the fact that I'm leaving this site soon, I guess my ultimate goal would be that my reviews will continue to be appreciated by current and future Eps members.
Well, it was fun filling that out. Hope it was interesting to read. Peace.
