Summary: Travelocity does not provide flight booking as promptly or efficiently as other sites. Save your time and skip Travelocity.
Details: As someone who thought all on-line booking resources were the same, I am surprised to find myself composing this opinion.
I am a frequent flier and book flights exclusively on line. I purchase from Continental.com, NWA.com, expedia, Orbitz, JetBlue, AirTran, and Yahoo (powered by Travelocity). As one would expect, all of my experience in on line flight purchasing to date has been positive - good flight selection, consistent pricing, prompt confirmation of purchase... all until my Travelocity experience.
The bottom line of my experience is their inability to conform a purchase as fares were going up by the minute. Even with a phone call and confirmation from the agent that the flight was purchased and confirmed, still, 10 hours later the purchase was not confirmed and fares were higher.
I do not have the time to wait around until Travelocity gets their core service proposition together and confirms my purchase. Ten hours after initial on-line purchase attempt, (and spending 1 hour confirming that purchase), I cancelled the ticket on-line then spent 30 minutes in queue to conform with an agent that the trip was, in fact, cancelled. At this point I did not trust the on-line information.
I then went to Orbitz, purchased, and confirmed within 5 minutes.
Conclusion: Travelocity does not provide flight booking as promptly or efficiently as other sites. Save your time and skip Travelocity.
