Disappointing and frustrating

I ordered my husband a hammock from the site for our anniversary. The site was clear and easy to navigate and I felt that the prices were slightly better than what I was finding at local retailers - little did I know!
I placed the order and at the time of purchase it said that I would receive it in 7-10 days. A couple days later I received an email that it would be on back order and they would notify me when it shipped and charge my card at that time. It was going to arrive late - not great, and I probably would not have ordered if I had known of the delay, but they provided a "gift" email, so I was able to give him something.
When the order finally did arrive he was so excited to set it up, and then we discovered that the tree straps that were advertised as part of the purchase were not included. When I contacted the customer service via email I was given noticed that they would get back to me within 24 hours. A day and a half later, I received a response back. There was a computer error, and the tree straps were left off, but in order to send them to me the customer service representative would have to have my credit card and charge me an additional $9.98 to send it to me! I'm not sure why a company wouldn't stand behind their product and take responsibility for their error. I'm highly disappointed in my experience with hammocks.com. I now have a hammock that I cannot use until I purchase tree straps, it's already late July (and in Michigan we don't have lots of hammock time as is), and if I want to resolve the issue I will have to pay more money. I now wish I had just purchased from a local retailer and saved myself the time and frustration.
I purchase a majority of my gifts and many personal items online, and have never had such a poor customer service/product experience before. I definitely would not purchase from this retailer.
