Pros: Kills mold and mildew spores quickly if you have a very dirty bathroom
Cons: Chlorine smell can cause irritation to your eyes and skin
The Bottom Line: Unless your mold and mildew problem is huge, I do not recommend this product for the average household especially of you have children under the age of 12.

Each and every one of us detests cleaning the bathrooms of our homes. I am one of those people who wish I can snap my fingers and be done with this chore but it has to be done or germs, mold and mildew will grow out of control.
Over the years I have tested many household cleaners that testify that your cleaning will be a lot easier if you use their product. So on my foray to my beloved Home Depot I saw a product called ZEP No Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover. I have used their industrial products outside my home to power wash my driveway and concrete walkways.
ZEP NO SCRUB MOLD & MILDEW STAIN REMOVER
The label says it attacks mold and mildew at the root of the problem without the need to scrub. It can be used on fiberglass tubs and showers, tile and grout. It is not recommended for marble, natural stone, faucets, metal, vinyl, formica and painted surfaces.
To use, spray onto the surface you want to clean. Let the product sit for a few minutes and rinse with fresh water. Do not allow to dry on surface. If you spray this on porcelain, rinse immediately.
PRECAUTIONS
This product is an irritant what will cause skin damage especially in you have sensitive skin. Use gloves when handling this product and rinsing down your shower or tub. Also be aware that the smell of this product is strongly chlorine and breathing in this product is not recommended. Open windows in your bathroom for ventilation. If you do not have windows in your bathroom, I would not recommend this product.
While on my way home from purchasing this product, it fell over and apparently the top was not secure. The leak caused my black floor mat of my car to be bleached an unsightly reddish brown color.
If you should get this product in your eyes, run cool water and flush your eyes out for 5 minutes. If you ingest this product, do NOT induce vomiting but give plenty of water to drink. Contact your physician or the emergency if ingested. If you get this product on your skins, wash it off immediately.
In an emergency call (877) 541-2016 or your local poison control center.
ACTUAL USE IN THE HOME
I live in an area where mildew and mold grows because of the proximity of the ocean a mile away. I leave my bathroom windows open to ventilate them but mold and mildew spores are everywhere. Even though I clean my shower and bath tubs twice a week, mold and mildew will still set in if I do not do a good job in cleaning.
I sprayed the wall/tiles of my shower and let this product do its work. It did remove minor spots of mildew but you still had to do a little bit of scrubbing especially in the corners. In the corners I used an old toothbrush to clean out all remnants of the mildew and mold.
For my main bathroom, it is rarely used since I live alone but when guests come to visit they use this shower/tub to bathe. I periodically inspect the shower curtain in this bathroom for signs of mold/mildew and attack it before it gets out of hand.
In the kitchen, I use this mainly on the refrigerator or wherever mold/mildew is a problem. I do not recommend using this product in the kitchen because it can contaminate food.
THE BOTTOM LINE
I can take most strong odors without any discomfort but ZEP No Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover is one product I won’t be buying any time soon. It is great on tough and stubborn stains that have been growing for a long time but for those of you who are on top of your cleaning, this product is overkill.
I had to step out of the bathroom while using this product because the odor caused my eyes to water and when inhaled caused me to gag a bit. This is definitely not for families with children in the home.
You can make your own cleaner using scented chlorine bleach found in many grocery stores that will do the same job. Use a half cup of bleach to one quart of water and place in a sprayer bottle you can buy at Home Depot. Spray this mixture on the area to be treated and then rinse off with fresh water. You can allow this to dry without wiping down your shower or tub.
