I must be having bad luck with dehumidifiers, in less than 3 years, I have been through 2 of them. If you are shopping around for dehumidifiers, do yourself a favor and purchase the NewAir AD-400. I live in New York and it gets very humid here. I initially ordered a Haier unit which, worked fine for almost a year and half. As it got older, I noticed the water tank was getting rusty and dirty. Finally, it stopped pulling moisture all together, as the evaporator was a big mess of rust. My guess is that the freon must have leaked out through the rusted piping. I thought about taking it to a service agent, but I decided to just buy a new one. I thought about buying a Danby unit since they are a partner of Whirlpool, and they have been around forever. However, Danby was out of stock and they didn’t know when they would be receiving more. I then went with Air & Water out of LA. I have a few friends that live in LA and they said Air Water is great. My friends ordered a few portable ac’s during a heat wave and they were really happy with their experience at Air & Water. I would have to agree. I called their customer service department and told them how unhappy I was with the Haier unit. They suggested the NewAir unit was looking at on Amazon. They said it extremely popular and has a large coverage area. I ordered in Monday and Fedex left it with the bellman on Friday. I plugged it in, the fan runs continuously and is slightly less loud than the Haier. The compressor makes minimal noise. All you hear is the white noise created by the fan, you can barely tell if the compressor kicks in. I am really happy with my purchase from Air & Water.
