| iref123's Full Review: Nextel i50sx |
This phone came out two weeks after the i85s, and was intended to appeal to the younger consumer group, which Nokia has essentially cornered with the 5100, 6100, 8200, and now the 3300 series. This phone offers interchangeable faceplates, two choices of keypads - white or black - and many useful features on the phone, such as a calculator, tip calculator, games, etc. The newer versions will let you download some additional games off the air, with no hookup needed. Unfortunately, still no downloadable ring tones. Motorola only has 9 tones on the phone.
As any other Nextel phone, there is the Direct Connect feature, which is the two-way digital radio. Now that the network has been opened one can talk to any other nextel user. On most plans the use of the radio is essentially free.
Everything on the phone is menu-driven, you scroll thru and select. Much better than the previous "*#" setup to get into the menus.
Even though the price recently went up to $ 75, it is still a great value, if you do not insist on having a speakerphone.
The only problem is that there are no cases with regular belt hooks on the market for this phone. Everything now seems to have the awful swivel clip which breaks all the time.
