| dkny919's Full Review: Houston Cellular Mobile Phone Service in Houston |
I signed a two-year contract with Cingular last October. I was with them for a year when the company used to be Houston Cellular so I decided to sign another 2 years. I bought a Nokia 3360 from them for $80.00. After a week, the screen would freeze up (only way to fix it was to yank the battery out and stick it back in), the screen would go blank for periods of time, phone would power off and on for no reason (battery being fully charged). So I brought it in for repair. It took 3 weeks. When I got it back, the next day I was having the same problems so I took it back again. It took another 3 weeks. Nokia finally gave me a free phone. Same thing happened again. I called both Cingular and Nokia and asked if I can get another model and pay the difference because obviously this model was not working for me. They said I wasn't allowed to do that and told me I need to keep bringing it in to fix. I did not have time to keep bringing the phone for repair every 3 weeks. So I asked again if there was a way Cingular can help me and they said that I need to get it repaired. I got frustrated and cancelled the plan. I am not dealing with this. So they told me it was my issue. I ended up cancelling my plan and they want to charge me $150.00 cancellation fee. They would not waive it despite the fact that I am dissatisfied with their service. I wasn't asking for a free phone. I just wanted to return it and pay the difference. They said it wasn't there fault that the phone didn't work and it's not their problem if I don't want to bring it back it for repair. What about my right as a customer? If I pay $80.00 for a phone I expect it to work. If I sign up a 2 year contract with a cell phone company and pay $100 something monthly, I expect to be taken care of. I am not the type of person that tries to get everything for free. It's the principle. It's my right as a customer to be happy with my product. Houston Cellular took care of their customers but after they merged with Cingular, now they have nothing but arrogant customer service.
