Pros: Excellent location to casino, Esplanade and day trip dock
Cons: The rooms need refurbishment
The Bottom Line: While the rooms were not up to the average Hilton level, we would probably stay there again due to the convenient location.

During the Summer Olympics, my husband and I visited Cairns, Green Island, Kuranda, and Cape Tribulation. Since my husband was a Gold VIP member of Hilton, we stayed at the Cairns Hilton so that we could earn Hilton Honors points.
The property is well situated - within walking distance to the Esplanade, night market, casino, and departure station for Great Barrier Reef. The grounds staff does and excellent job on maintaining the area surrounding the hotel. The management also keeps the common areas neat and clean. The restaurant and bar serves local Queensland seafood specialties that are fresh and tasty.
The only disappointment was about the quality of the guest rooms. We stayed in a beach view room with a king sized bed. The room smelled a bit musty and the furniture/paintings seemed worn. The bathroom had noticeable mildew. Even with these shortcomings, we would probably stay at this hotel again because the location was so convenient.
