My Experience
I was wanting to get this wheel for about 4 months before I bought it, I didn't go get it right away as I felt $150.00 (CAD) was too much for a racing wheel. So, I waited, and waited, then finally the day came, Future Shop had it for $70.00 (CAD) off! I jumped at the deal, a force feedback wheel for $80.00 (CAD) is a tremendous deal.
I went down to the store, sold out! This was unacceptable, so I got it on raincheck. Had to wait a week, when I finally got it home and out of the box. The wheel has a decent radius of 90 degrees to the left & right. This may seem small compared to other wheels with 180 degrees both way, BUT they don't have force feedback.
The wheel mounts easily and stability to a table, but nothing more then 1 and a half inches. Which was a disappointment to me, as my coffee table is MUCH thicker, so I resorted to the "easy to use lap attachment". It clips on easily, but is rather difficult to hold onto with your knees, as it tends to slide out. If you look around you'll see a picture and understand what I'm trying to explain. This made the game less fun, as my arms were cramped and I was struggling to keep it between my legs. Then I got fed up with using the lap attachment and built a table to the height that I wanted, and the gameplay improved exponentially.
It was a bit frustrating, as like anything it takes a bit of practice. Finally, I was getting good, the wheel became more fun every moment. Whether I was gunning down dirt rally tracks, or doing powerslides around unbelievably difficult tracks, this wheel made it 100 times more fun. Without force feedback, I doubt that you could have as much fun, as you aren't into the game because you don't know how the car is behaving.
I read in other reviews people complaining that the wheel wouldn't downshift when your slowing down and turning for a corner, I didn't think it to be that annoying, but it is. If you drive an automatic you need not worry though.
Conclusion
That was near the best $80.00 (CAD) I ever spent, Gran Turismo hasn't been this much fun since I first bought it when it came out. I highly recommend this product, for the fun it gives and the quality Logitech (SONY) built it with.
