Pros: Lots of options, looks nice.
Cons: Horrible build quality, in service more than in use.
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't purchase a Dell Lattitude CPx if I actually had to use/repair it.

I work doing technical support for a law school that requires its students to own a laptop. Over half decided to buy our recommended PC laptop: the Dell CPx. (It had the features we wanted the students to have.) This amounts to 200 students owning a Dell CPx, a nightmare we won't soon forget.
It started innocently enough. One student's keys stopped working. Another's display... well... wouldn't. A third student's mouse buttons fell off. The Dell guy showed up and replaced the bad parts, usually ending up with a motherboard replacement. Then the floodgates opened, and within a month of ownership, we had 4 - 6 laptops coming in PER DAY for service. We almost gave the Dell guy his own office. The same problems were reported, plus more. Hard drives were extra noisy, and more.
The worst part was when the repaired machines were coming back for services, again. Dell sent us full replacement machines, and now those are coming back for service.
Dell makes great desktops, but they don't make their own laptops: they're bought from OEM wholesalers. I'd avoid the current crop of Dell laptops, and buy an Apple instead. We hardly ever have those come back for service. (Especially the iBook.)
