Pros: Compact; can slip it in a small camera bag
Cons: Does not pivot; adjustment made by lengthening legs
The Bottom Line: A nice, solidly constructed mini-tripod for holding compact cameras that travels well inside a small camera bag. A good value for the price.

| cartan's Full Review: Sima Camcorder Mini Tripod ST-10T |
If you want something small to tote along in your compact camera case for that occasion when you want to get in the picture, or you need a steady hold on your camera for low light levels, the Sima mini-tripod may do the trick. Solid aluminum construction with the standard 1/4 inch 20 screw that attaches to the camera. The legs are 3.75 inches long and extend to 6.5 inches. When fully opened, the camera sits 6.75 inches above the surface. The camera mount can be deceiving, but do not attempt to rotate the camera; it does not pivot. It only holds the camera in a horizontal position, and slight adjustments can be made by retracting or extending one or more of the legs. Because I could not take a vertical shot with this tripod, I purchased an Ambico mini-tripod from WalMart ($5.88) that was even smaller, but had an adjustable pivot which would allow a vertical shot. However, the tripod was so small that the camera would tip over. So I went back to the Sima tripod and fashioned a small 90 degree adapter in my workshop, and was able to mount my digital camera (Olympus C-4000) vertically without tipping. The distance from leg to leg on the Sima tripod is 7.5 inches, so that it will hold cameras that don't have a large extended lens system that moves the center of gravity away from the body of the camera. After making a sack for the tripod from an old sock, it is stuffed in the compact camera bag next to the camera, ready for easy attachment and use.
