After being an unhappy Sprint customer for over a year and hearing good review from US Cellular, I decided to give them a shot. I’ve been a customer now for a year and a half, and the only complaint I have is on their insurance plan.
Thank goodness I didn’t decide to purchase their insurance plan for a monthly fee. My phone had an “accident” with my 2 year old son and a glass of water, and I was forced to get a new one. I did the math while waiting in the store, and realized that if I had gone with the insurance plan, I would have actually paid more since the deductible was so high.
Aside from the “extras” they want to charge, I’ve been very pleased with their service and billing. I currently pay around $60 a month for 2 phones on a shared plan. Both of us that use the phones rarely have a problem with using more than our allowed minutes, so the plan works well for us. Even if by chance we do use more and are charged an extra fee, it isn’t too expensive and you would probably pay more if using you were forced to pay long distance on a home phone. I also am not charged for out of state calls, which is good for me.
I’ve never had to call customer service due to problems with the service, and have only had one run-in with a rude sales associate. I’ve also never had problems with reception, unless you count the time I lost my connection when I stepped into a walk in cooler and let the door shut behind me. I love being able to walk all around without getting a bad connection, as appose to Sprint where I would have to stand on the roof of my house to make a call.
US Cellular is the best service in my area, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a cell phone provider. Sign up at a local store is quick and painless, and (most) representatives I have done business with are knowledgeable and kind. It has my vote.
