The Bottom Line: Dawn Dish Detergent is one of the better dish detergents offering more bubbles, tough grease fighting capabilities, and helps the ducks. I highly recommend it.

I am reviewing Dawn dishwashing liquid. Many of you lucky people own dishwashers, but I have never been so fortunate. I have to use my little (well big) hands to wash my own dishes, and there are a wide array of different dishwashing lotions available from which to choose. There are tough grease fighters, anti-bacterial, those that claim to be gentle on the hands. It is difficult to decide which is best.
For a while; a long while, I used a product that was very gentle on my hands; hypoallergenic, no dyes or perfumes, and in theory that was great. The problem was that there were not many suds, and I don't feel my dishes adhered the level of cleanliness that I expect. So, back to the drawing board, or rather the store. I decided to return to Dawn products, as they have always been both easier on my hands than some other products, and effective on my dishes. Presently I am using Dawn Special Care. My hands tend to break out with most cleaning products, and when I wear dishwashing gloves, I can't seem to get the dishes clean enough (insert whining).

Creative uses for Dawn aside from dishes from the manufacturer:

The manufacturers of Dawn dishwashing lotion state that they have donated many many thousands of gallons of Dawn to save birds and other wildlife that are affected by oil spills.

Warnings from the manufacturer: Keep from children. If you accidentally get Dawn in your eyes, flush out with water, and if accidentally swallowed, drink a glass of water, so it will be diluted.
What I like about Dawn:
I really do like the product, the huge, wonderful, and effective suds. It is great cleaning greasy pots and pans, and dishes. When I run out of Woolite or Woolove for delicates I can use Dawn, and when I am really desperate can use it for regular laundry if I run out of my usual detergent.
What I don't care for:
I still have some outbreaks on my hands if I wash dishes regularly with Dawn. I think the fragrance, alcohol, and dyes wreak havoc with my hands as they are very sensitive. This product is better than some others in that respect however (for me).
Final thoughts and recommendations:
Dawn is a very good dishwashing lotion for those who either do not have extremely sensitive hands, or are content wearing gloves. If you decide to purchase/use Dawn I suggest you evaluate each of their products to find the one most appropriate for your needs. Before returning to my previous product, I shall try Dawn's Plus Hand Care to see if that is a more appropriate choice. I find it frustrating weighing cleaning ability, and safeness/gentleness on hands. I am giving this product 3 1/2 stars.
