The Bottom Line Google is the best Search Engine I have yet to discover!

| Full Review |
When I was in graduate school, working toward my Master's Degree in Business, I was constantly faced with meeting time deadlines, writing papers, and giving presentations. My PC quickly became my best friend. I was constantly on- line, looking up information on economics, finance, management, and other business related topics.
I would usually begin my research by going to a search engine and entering some key words to search. The results sometimes contained what I was looking for, but I often had to open up each link first, to see if it had what I was looking for.
Then, one day, I discovered a new search engine that I had never heard of before. This one was much different from the others, and much, much faster! It's called Google, and it helped me tremendously with my research.
What Sets Google Apart from the Others?
Google is an excellent search engine for countless reasons. First and foremost, Google is great because of its speed and the way it displays the search results. The time that each search takes is displayed at the top of the screen, after you conduct a search, and it's usually less than one second! I don't know of too many things on the internet, search engine or otherwise, that move that fast!
The other thing that's great about Google is the way it displays the search results. When you enter your keywords to search on, Google will display the results in groups of 10 per page (unless you specify more)and, within each result, it will show your keywords in boldface type, in the order that it found each one, with the preceding and following words indicated. This is a great help, because you know right away how many words were found, where they are located, and part of the phrase that the word was located within. The top of the page will also tell you how many total search results were found.
I found Google to be especially helpful when I had a key phrase to search for, or several key words. For instance, one day I was working on an Economics assignment, and I needed some specific information on LM curves and IS curves and how the economy is affected when one of them shifts(if you have studied economics, you know what I'm talking about, but these things are probably Greek to everyone else). So, I went to Google and entered the following words in the search box: Lm curve IS curve shift economic change graph. The results were perfect! Not only did I get my information on these curves, but in addition to that, the pages at the top of the search results had actual graphs, right on the page! I was only expecting to get the word graph. I didn't expect to get an actual graph! That shows just how good Google is, at going beyond the call of duty.
Other Features:
Google also offers some advanced search features. The default search is by all words in your set of keywords, found anywhere in a page. But you can modify this in several ways. You can search by only an exact phrase, in the order you type it; by pages that include everything except your specified words; by word occurrance in the title or URL only; and by specific topic. Which ever way you choose, you can be assured that Google will find the results effortlessly, and in lightning- fast speed. There is also an option to change the language, to one of fifteen different options.
Final Thoughts
Google is the best search engine that I know. It's very fast, very well- organized, and the site is completely free of any advertisements. I discovered this great search engine in the spring of 2000, and I was very happy that I did, but by that time, I was almost finished with Graduate school! And, guess how I discovered it? From epinions, where else? I was reading and rating epinions one day, and I noticed that this search engine was almost always rated very highly. So, I checked it out and discovered that it was just as great, maybe even better, than epinions members said it would be.
I wish I had known about this service much sooner. It really could have helped me with my research projects in Graduate School. But now, I know where to go whenever I need to find information quickly and accurately, on any subject: Google. It's the best search engine in cyberspace!
