One thing I absolutely loathe when I visit an auto parts store is hearing that the part I need is not in stock, or that the part needs to be shipped in from some other store. When I can't find a part at my local automotive store, or want to compare prices before I buy, I always visit AutoZone.com first.
About the site:
AutoZone.com not only is a site that offers great deals on almost all types of auto parts, AutoZone's online store also offers detailed info on recalls, specifications on certain vehicles, etc. While the site does offer a huge selection of auto parts, there are things such as oil, and other potentially hazardous products that can not be purchased at the online store. The FAQ section at AutoZone.com has all the info you need on products that can not be purchased via the site.
So how does AutoZone's online store work?
When you register with AutoZone.com you are given the locations of the nearest stores in your area. You can either shop for products available at your local AutoZone online, have a part sent to your local AutoZone via the online store (free of shipping), or have the parts sent to your residence (shipping charges apply). If you have your parts sent to your residence you must have a major credit card. AutoZone.com does not accept COD, or any other type of payment plans.
Note: If you have a product sent to your local store you do not need any sort of credit card, you simply pay for the product when it arrives at your local AutoZone store; AutoZone will call you when your order arrives.
My Experience:
I have ordered a few products from AutoZone.com, my K&N air filter being one of the products that I was most excited about buying. Locally it was impossible for me to find a K&N air filter that could be used in my Geo Storm. AutoZone.com offered a decent deal on the product; $49.99 plus tax and $5.99 for standard shipping. Standard shipping usually requires about 3-5 days for delivery, I received my K&N air filter in 5 days. AutoZone also ships products such as regular stock air filters, and stock fuel filters that are not available at your local AutoZone to your local AutoZone just as fast as it takes to reach your residence.
Shipping charges:
Standard Fed EX- 3-5 business days $5.99+
Rush- 2-3 business days $10.99+
Express- Overnight $16.99+
A note on shipping: If you are buying a stock fuel filter or making a final purchase of less than $20.00 at this online store I highly suggest having the product shipped to your local AutoZone, $5.99 for shipping is quite a hefty fee to pay for something that only costs $20.00 or less.
I most often visit AutoZone.com to compare prices on parts, or get info on recalls on cars that I am interested in. Since the site offers easy navigation, finding these sorts of attributes offered from the site is extremely easy.
Final thoughts:
AutoZone's online store definitely gets my approval. I received my K&N air filter in a timely manner and at a decent price. I also recommend using AutoZone.com as an information source. AutoZone.com is a great place to visit to just compare prices on parts, or get detailed recall information, specs, etc. all without having to leave your cozy chair. I would definitely buy from AutoZone.com again and will continue to use the site for reliable car info.
