Beware Pre-paid rules
by mangialento ,Jul 23 '04
Pros: none yet. Voice quality horrible. Cons: small print; horrible customer service
I purchased a pre-paid phone and initial $10 card. I went on vacation. When I returned, though I was not informed when I purchased the card, the value had expired -- after only 30 days. It seems this is not a service for those who truly want only an emergency phone.
Incidentally, it took 52 minutes of calling, 8 times, customer service, to get someone who would even try to explain what happened. The customer service phone # on the cell phone is only for non-prepaid accounts, and without $ on the phone, I couldn't call customer service, and no one would connect me!!!

Poorest Service and coverage area.
by badcellphone ,Dec 23 '05
Pros: None available. Cons: Too numerous to mention.
Not only do they have the poorest service, the area coverage is not suitable. Way to high $ amount to discontinue service.
Going away from home even though we have the national plan, there are too many dead spots. When service is unacceptable, one should be able to discontinue service without a $1200. fee.

Cancellation Tactics
by nwmike ,Sep 19 '05
Pros: Local Phone number. Cons: Dropped calls, poor quality reception, now roaming wherever you go.
I've seen this bit before. They tell you that you can contact them via email to cancel. But when you call to verify they have no recollection of any email. Plus forcing you into waiting 30days to cancel your account. Yet it's odd you can sign up in an office and have phone service in less that 30 minutes. It wouldn't take that long for them to cancel you if it were up to them. Luckily I CCd some other email accounts as verification I notified them.
As for service it's worthless. When we first got it a few years ago it was fine. But slowly got worse until you can't even make a call and understand each other on the line. When I tried to make a 911 call when my wife was injured was the last draw. Why pay for something if you can't even make a call in your own town?
Waiting to see what they try to do on my account cancellation. They try to sidestep this one I'm going to the FTC, Attorney General's office, or whoever will listen.

Poor Poor Poor Service!!!
by texaslillady ,Sep 17 '04
Pros: None Cons: Rude customer service representatives. Lie to customers. Charged for services not rendered.
Cellularone is the worst cell phone service that I have ever dealt with! The employees are rude and they will lie when the truth would do them more good. I'm soooo glad that my contract with them is completed. Seems that they are only interested in taking customers hard earned money, and NOT in providing good service. I will NEVER use this company again. I would do without a cell phone first! I was billed for about 9 months for a phone THEY lost while supposedly repairing it. Finally had to have a fit in the office to get the phone replaced, THEN was charged for a "loaner" phone that I never received! (That was just the tip of the iceberg. Multiple problems with this company). Crappy business ethics.

STAY AWAY FROM CELLULAR ONE!!!
by thedog62 ,Dec 22 '05
Pros: None Cons: Very unethical business practices bordering on fraud!
I had service with Cellular One for 4 1/2 years until recently. A Cellular One rep lied to me recently, telling me that my coverage area included an area it really did not. The result? Hundreds of dollars in roaming charges, which has made me cancel all my Christmas plans this year.
And did they care? Aside from one rep whose hands were tied by her "superiors," they could not have cared less.
Their business practices border on fraud, so I would suggest to anyone who is looking for cellular service to look elsewhere. If I were to commit fraud against Cellular One, I would be in jail. When they do it, they get away with it. The only way to fight this is to steer as much business AWAY from them as possible!

Customer Service... What service with Cellular None
by thyloyalself ,Aug 12 '05
Pros: Ability to manupulate plans without altering contract Cons: NO LOANER PROGRAM
Its unfortunate that a company such as Cellular None doesn't provide loaner phones for their customers that purchase cellular service. Poor choice. Thats bad if not the worst issue you can offer loyal customers who have been with the company for years. Essentially its a slap in the face to customers who were loyal customers for years. Bad customer service elimination of loaner phones = corperate merge with Cingular.

WARNING!!!!! Read before you decide
by john_orrell ,Dec 13 '05
Pros: none Cons: run far way from them
Don't be fooled, sleazy car dealer will give you a better deal. I pay $140 a month for no service. When I complained, they say I can cancel but it will cost me $600 dollars. The ethics of the sales staff are the lowest. When I complained from day one about no service, they told me of a scheme to get an up graded phone from the insurance company. I regret ever doing it. I feel bad that I scooped to their level. The phones that we received were LG phones. In my opinion, the only thing they are good for is throwing them away. I'll give you some good advice, if you start to go into one of their stores, turn around and run far, far away. Alltel bought them out. I thought it would get better then. But Alltel still refers me to these idiots.

Horrible Horrible!
by coullagirl ,Jul 28 '04
Pros: There is nothing good about CellOne in Anchorage. Cons: They have failed in every aspect of cellular phone service!
I live in Anchorage, Alaska and have CellOne. I pay $50 a month for the worst service ever! The local companies are able to offer reception and reliability while CellOne offers a scant 50% success rate for calls...then I must use more airtime each time I have to call a person back because of a lost signal!

No Service
by alkire ,Dec 30 '04
Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything about the company and it service
Cellular One is the only cell phone we can get in our area. Other people come from different areas have great service, but we have none. They have the contract with our local telephone company, they bought the right of air ways years ago when cell service was just beginning and now no other cell company can come to the area. So what do we do accept the lies the lady tells you about what good service you get and talks you into a 2 year contract. You are thinking Great! Until you get home charge you phone to find out there is no service in most of the area. You are stuck with this phone and contract because the nice lady told you how great it was.
Cellular One has a sign on the highway in Clarksburg WV that reads What good are the minutes if you can't use them. I agree with that, but how do you get them to give you good service.

More Bait-and-Switch
by sissym ,May 28 '04
Pros: Local area service has been good Cons: Customer Service is extremely poor; unreliable service in other areas of the state.
I have tried for seven months to get Dobson Cellular One to remove the $9.95 "free incoming" charge from my bills. It is removed one month, re-appears the next. (Wish I had read the reviews before I signed up!) My contract was for $34.95/month with 200 minutes, no long distance, no roaming in the state of Texas; the first month's bill showed a charge and a credit for $9.95 for "free incoming - six months" (how do they get "free" out of $9.95/mo??). I have had service with them since 1995, and for all this time, all calls (outgoing and incoming) were charged against the plan minutes. Nowhere in the new contract (or the promotional material) does it state that incoming minutes are charged separately, and there is no provision for charging anything more than the stated $34.95/mo. This looks like deceptive trade practice to me - now I think it's time to get the State Attorney General's office involved, and/or the FCC!
