| rachelcaron's Full Review: General Reviews of Verizon Customer Service |
About a year ago I bought a phone and service through PrimeCo. I got the top of the line phone at that time, or at least that’s what the salesperson told me. I was pretty happy with both the phone and the service for most of the time. I had what I thought was a good plan. $24.99 for 100 minutes and then I added another 100 weekend minutes for $5. The quality was pretty good and barely ever did I have problems with lost service or bad connections.
I think over this summer Verizon bought out PrimeCo. I really didn’t notice any differences until a few months ago. I was going out of the country for a few months so I called to see what options I had. I wanted to find out if there was a way I could reserve the number and cancel my service for a few months. When I called customer service they said I could use their emergency plan that is $20 and it only includes a few minutes of talk time. This way I could keep my number. I told them I would think about it and call back. When I called back a few days later the person I talked to told me there was no such plan.
So, I decided I would disconnect my phone. I called a week ahead of time to give them notice. On the phone I was telling the customer service agent that I wanted to end my service and he were asking me questions like where I wanted the final bill sent, why I wanted to end my service, and so on. So then I said I would like my service to end the end of the month. Well he says, “Oh, I already disconnected it.” So I asked him to reconnect it and he said he couldn’t. I needed my phone that last week and I told him that and he said there was nothing he could do. I was really upset. He didn’t offer any help or suggestions. I asked to speak to a manager. So, of course, I was put on hold for a long time. I don’t remember how long it was but it seemed like forever. And, who has time to sit around all day and wait on the phone? He should have come back on the phone, took my name and number, and offered to call me back.
Anyway, finally, the manager comes on the phone. I explained the situation. He said no problem, reconnected my phone, and gave me back the minutes I still had left. Now, how hard was that? Why couldn’t the customer service guy do that? Or at least gotten permission to do it?
Well, then I called back a few days later to arrange to cancel my service within the next few days. This time I talked to a woman who said she couldn’t put in a request to cancel my service. I had to call the day of to cancel it. What a pain! So, the day I was leaving town I had to call, wait on hold a while because all the agents were busy, and then finally I was able to cancel my service.
Well, I just came back into town a few weeks ago. I decided, for what reason I don’t know, to reactivate my phone. I called PrimeCo/Verizon. They said they no longer had the plan I was on. Oh, and by the way, my phone was no longer good with any of the plans (except for one). They told me now all of their plans require some certain kind of dual-mode phone which of course I didn’t have. So, so much for that. I am not going to buy another phone and continue to get lousy service.
GOODBYE VERIZON!
