| MurderInc's Full Review: Hughes Networks D1132 Single LNB DIRECTV System |
After getting tired of dealing with the monopoly my local cable provider has on my area I had no choice but to tell them to hit the road(choices, rising prices etc). It was one of the best decisions I made in a long time. Although this type of system isnt for everyone, it should be apparent that the cable companies know they're headed for some stiff competition. My area is flooded with anti-satellite propoganda from the cable company, but its not helping as the dishes are popping up everywhere. The ease of use and quality are way beyond my expectations, I've already heard the horror stories of weather etc, but I've been thru the rain and snow storms and haven't experienced any problems at all. The programming packages offered cater to any and everyone, and if your a sports fan....you gotta get it. Setup is also very easy, you can even get settings for the dish location on the DirecTV web site by just putting in your zip code. The only drawback I encountered was dealing with a so-called "professional" installer, he figured he could save himself 20ft of cable by inserting multiple(3) splits and using my existing cable line. After contacting the company that provided me with this guy, everything was rectified and a saw an improvement in the quality. My only caution would be if your not going to do the installation yourself, is to make sure your present yourself when its done. Oh and for you sports fans...make sure the Mrs is prepared to see you disappear for hours at a time :-)
