DVD:VCR as CD:8-Track
Feb 15 '00
After our trusty VCR went on to its great reward recently, we headed to the local Wal-Mart to find a replacement, with some idea that we might enter the new millenium and purchase a DVD player. Once we saw that a well-equipped VCR was going to cost just as much as the RCA DVD player, the choice was easy.
After some tense moments in which the system did not work (we needed to purchase an RF Modulator), we have been very pleased with the quality and performance of the RCA. After hooking the unit into our stereo, with FIVE speakers around the living room--you can not only hear the sound, you can FEEL it. The picture quality is excellent--the only way to get this sort of clarity on VHS was to buy a never-used VCr and watch a never-used tape.
Added features are: no rewinding, easy location of "stop points" for people like me who can rarely sit down and finish a whole movie, it plays audio CDs (have fun slowing and speeding them--you too, can be an instant DJ), and most DVDs have added features not available on VHS.
