E-filing is definately one of the best enhancements I have seen made to the tax system in the past decade. I have been using E-filing for the last 3 years and will continue to do for in the future. There are several advantages to e-filing:
1. Potential for better tax return. With the current e-filing methods, you are taken through a series of questions that ask you for all of the information. After you have completed your review, it automatically checks your review and asks you more questions that could lead you into receiving a bigger tax return. When I started using e-file the first year, I did my forms by hand and by e-file to make sure they were going to match and e-file actually netted me an extra $600.00 because I learned I could write off more than I was.
2. 99% error free. With the current methods as well, your review is quality checked for errors before ever being sent to the IRS. This cuts down on wasted time for both you and the IRS and makes the whole process so much easier.
3. Automatic Deposit. Having your refun auto deposited into your checking account definately speeds up the processes. From the time I clicked submit this year until the time my return was deposited into my account was only 6 business days. That is incredible considering the amount of time it would have taken to do by hand. My money was back to me and available for spending much quicker through e-filing.
4. Low cost versus Accountant. Most e-filing methods cost around $9.95 to file for federal and $5.95 for state. They will file both at the same time for you and import your federal returns to your state forms which saves you a large amount of time as well. Why pay an accountant to use the same software that is now available to you on the internet for about a 1/10 of the price??? Hmmmm...
Overall, its a definate winner in my book!!!!!! Everyone should be using it.!!!!!
